We have a couple of games of Tag! going on in the forum out here; one for the Phoenix metro area and another for the whole state. I had a day off from work today so I hit the road about 9 this morning to hit both local and state tags. The temp was about 60 when I left the house and climbed to about 65 shortly thereafter. But that was not to last.

First, a quick stop at Wally World to pick up a new SDHC card since I swiped my old one for the GoPro camera until my 32GB card arrives. Then off to the first tag site. It was an easy one since it was only about 15 miles from my house.

And while I was taking that shot, my bike was taking a photo of me taking a photo of it.

Next it was off to Rock Springs Cafe for a burger before I headed on up I-17. While I was dismounting and shedding my gear, the GoPro took its final picture before the battery died. I had it taking one shot every 30 seconds but I can see that I need to extend that time since it was only 100 miles from my house to the restaurant.

Note the nice bug splat right in the center of the lens...

Next it was on to capture the state tag; a shot of the bike at the entrance to Out Of Africa, a site near Camp Verde, NE of Prescott. The site is only a block off of 260, but I missed the sign and wound up dual-sporting it for a mile up the hill. When I found a trailhead I stopped and turned around. The road up there and back was really rough, but the Connie handled it well and I spent a lot of my time on the pegs. The scenary at the top of the road was pretty nice.

Then it was back down the hill, find the destination, and grab a shot,

Then it was time to head home. I choose to ride 260 through Camp Verde, Strawberry, Pine, and into Payson before taking the Beeline (87) back down into the Phoenix area. The ride out of Camp Verde to Strawberry was great. I wish Brenda had been with me to take some photos.

But it may have been too cold for her to take her gloves off as I had to stop and put my rain jacket on over my textile which was covering my quilted liner, which was over my long sleeved t-shirt. I had my heavy winter gloves on and the grip heaters were on high. The lowest temps I saw on the thermometer was 44 so I'm sure the wind chill at 70mph took it a bit lower.

Yes, that white stuff behind the bike is exactly what you think it is...

From there it was on into Strawberry to take a future Tag photo, then through Pine, and finally into Payson for a quick bathroom break and to warm up for a few minutes. Down the hill to Phoenix and I pulled into the garage at 5:15 with 309 miles on the clock.

I love this state! :rider:  :sun:

 I really liked the picture the bike took of you. Clever those bikes are.

The white stuff.... what was that again?

Sounds like a great way to spend the day.
