Anyone else enjoying retirement as much as me?

I detoured on my way home from Arizona, these are from Guadalupe Rim on the NM BDR. I am camping there tonight. Not having a return date is great.
For years I had been driving by that area up on the ridge on my way to points out west to go ride. Finally a couple of years ago on the way back from a New Mexico trip I spent a couple of nights in the area to explore it. I loved it. That ride from White's City to Dog Canyon was awesome and is something people with street bikes can do. Then if you're on a DS bike there are a number of side trips in the dirt from mild to wild. I was really impressed. And talk about a lack of traffic and crowds. :thumb:

Guadelupe Rim is an awesome place. We hunt there when we are fortunate to draw out. We camp about 20 miles in close to the Algerita tank. There are some amazing two track roads a bike could be ridden on. Really enjoy the camping. We take a cargo trailer, generator and make areal nice camp.

JT I have admired you and Gina,s riding adventures for quite sometime on hear and crossed paths with y'all at various events here and there. Me my wife retired 3 yrs ago. We're finally hitting the Road for multiple upcoming dualsport ride's starting with a month in Arkansas come May 1st gonna start living like we're Retired because we are. Every Day is Saturday thanks for the inspiration 🙏
South Ar can be very muggy in May. North of IH 40 the mountains do a pretty good job of blocking the gulf moisture so come on up to the northern half and look me up for some local dirt riding. Southern Missouri is also great for riding. Im assuming if you are spending a month you must have a travle trailer or be tent camping. As always we have free camping and spots for rv's on our place for dual sports and adv riders. Im sure there will be a lot more diders in the area by then as the new AR bdrx is opening up in a week or so.
You should also consider staying with Kate and Dustin at their motorcycle only campground. So live so ride. Great couple with dozens of local to them routs from nasty to paved.

Tim,
What area are you in ? I wouldn't mind bringing my cargo trailer and Rally for a couple of days of riding.
If you look up. Red Rock Adventures Jasper Ar in google maps it will give you an exact location. We are 5 miles south of Jasper off highway 7 and 374 intersection. We have full hookups for 2 trailers.

Naps...this is the one thing I have never mastered. I sleep very well at night so maybe that's why I've never had much of a need to have a nap during the day. I'm not complaining. Most of my friends in their 60's and 70's often complain about not being able to sleep for a full night and that probably contributes to the need or pleasure of a nap. Sure, I get up a couple of times during the night for some unknown reason that no one has figured out... :lol2: ...but I go right back to sleep. That must be because of my impeccably, clear conscience and pure life that allows me to do that.:duck:
I've ALWAYS been able to nap after lunch. When I was working from an office, I would often go out and take a 15-minute nap in my truck. I never slept too long. We did have a programmer at one place who took a nap at lunch, and didn't wake up until after 3:00. That was hilarious.

having typical retirement day

7:00 Have to be ready for breakfast. Yes, wife still makes me breakfast before she goes to work. In the words of the Knight Templar in Last Crusade Indiana Jones movie - I chose wisely

7-8 Eat breakfast, drink coffee, watch news - realizing I’m not taking as much pleasure in the traffic reports as I did when I first retired

8-10 Research and order parts/supplies to do oil cooler in TDI Touareg, get Road Glide back in service to sell. Regret not selling Touareg before warranty expired

10 shower and get ready to meet day

10:45 pull out VRod and meet wife for lunch

Afternoon will consist of short nap, change fog lights and drain HFCM on truck, then getting Glide up on lift for triage. Unless there is a good movie on, or I just don’t feel like it.

Hi Tony, consider the Rally At The Rock, May 13-17, Combs AR. The club that hosts the rally has their own campground near the Mill Creek OHV area trailhead.

Watching the weather this morning I realized I am achieving the retirement mindset

I was irked by the upcoming front timing. With it arriving on Friday evening, and being back warm Monday, that means I’ll have to share the road with all the weekend wildflower traffic and likely a mischief of bicycles. This is likely the last front until Nov

Prior to retirement, the front timing would have made me very happy.

Oh - get off my lawn

I'm still working some on the 6 Saturdays plus a Sunday mentality, but I'm up for the challenge. Trying to keep in mind many friends that are still slaving away when trying to connect with them.
Wife made her retirement official in February. We're both learning the new dance. We are blessed.

I know someone who’s boss gave him (who shall remain un-named) a neck pillow so that he could nap at his desk more comfortably. 😆

Retired almost 10 years now. Feeling a bit nostalgic I slapped on one of these devices. I was a slave to it, and its brother the Microsuck 360 calendar, during my working days. Meetings, conf calls, and repeat day after day. Phew.

I have worn a wrist watch since I was a young kid. I still feel like I am not fully dressed with out one.

Funny thing about using a calendar. I have more use for one more now than when I was working. Not having a daily schedule means I forget what day it is a lot more often than when I was working. The content is much different now. It contains, sports teams schedules, when TV series air new seasons, and last but not least DRs appointments.

Speaking of retirement today marks the 5th anniversary of my last day at work. My only regret is that isn't the 7th or 8th anniversary.
