Anyone ride Chispa Road recently...the last month or so?

We never found out where the "people" that came to the potluck lived save one, and we did go back several times years apart later...no sign of life each time. It's the nature of that area. Solitude, rugged beauty and a touch of mystery. I'm not saying vamps exist, just more than once the thought crossed our minds about them. I eat LOTS of garlic in any case. :lol2:

I think that hill you turned around on is called Bambi's Hill. Ha ha, just kidding. I bet you were already through the excitement but you have to listen to your "little voice". Especially when riding alone. Out there. If things went south and you went down at speed on that kind of surface, could be really bad. Live to fall down another day. Here is most likely the hill you were looking down as you went west. This was us headed east a few years ago, Husky 501 in the red circle charging up "Bambi". :-P

Just completed Ft Davis to Valentine, Chispa Rd to Candelaria to Chinati Hot Springs to Presidio. Approx 180 miles. Bring gas. Bring water.

Arrived at Chispa and Hwy 90 at 3:45 thinking 3hrs was good. Nope. 6 hrs
When you drop down to the river parrallel heading south around Porvenir we hit super loamy soft sand and muck from recent rains. Every little wash was a tough go to keep moving.
Hit Godzilla Hill (Bambi Hill) at dark. You need your wits to get up in a single run.
Got to Chinati around 9:45pm.
Tough but rewarding. No sign of humans. Trucks and jeeps had a good chance of stranding in the wet sand.
Riding Ktm 1090, Husky 901 Adventure, KTM 690. This is a smaller bike run in my estimation unless you like to work.
Our good rider said “no más en una moto grande”

We also brought beer, ice, bourbon and cokes.
