Hot Springs--Mena--Russellville general area. Just wandering around. Things to see, places to eat. Will be moteling it. Suggestions?

What kind of bike are you taking?

I would highly recommend the Low Gap Cafe, middle of no where, don't expect a fancy place, but really good food. The owner is a chef that got tired of the big city and moved to AR. We always stop there if we get within 100 miles.

Want to add that they used to have local music on Friday and Saturday nights, very entertaining. Last time we were there on a Friday night a younger man with his guitar and an older man playing a jug was there. They were actually quite good considering. My wife's favorite part was the older gentleman had a small dog with him. He tied a small string to the dogs collar and then to his big toe, he was barefoot. I'm not sure he was playing a part, think it was just the way he did stuff. Definitely hill country and friendly people.

There are at least a couple of reasonable hotels (note definitely not 5 star) in Jasper which is kind of central to most of the best motorcycle roads in the area. That is where I usually stay.

In Mena you might check out the Branding Iron Steakhouse and if you’d like a different experience to overnight you can rent a cabin on Iron Mountain (between Mena and Hatfield) reasonably. Iron Mountain is a facility owned and operated by the Christian Motorcyclists Association.

Jansen Park Place B&B in downtown Mena is a great little Bed and Breakfast on the park with amazing owners and a great porch to enjoy overlooking the park. Then we found a good food place on the square. Owner of the B&B is a rider - they’ll treat you right.

Agreed on Iron Mountain. They have cabins too; we just stayed there last week while doing some exploring in the Ouchita forest.

From Mena, take a spin up to the Skyline drive to the Queen Wilhelmina State Park. Great viewing spots all the way up, and especially at the resort. Don't know how capable an SUV you have, but there's a bunch of fun/easy forest roads throughout the Ouchita national forest. Search Google maps, and you can find several waterfalls that you can all but drive up to. Several hiking trails around too. You can drive over to Hot Springs this way; much more fun/scenic than the freeway. When you get to Hot Springs, if you're into coffee, check out Capachi's Coffee and Tea. If you're into sushi, try Crazy Samuri.

Just south of Russellville and west of Dardanelle (and famous Hwy 7) is Mt Nebo State park. Fun road up to the top of the Mount and scenic views.
In Hot Springs National Park is the HS Mountain Tower that overlooks HS (scenic views)
Mt Magazine State Park has scenic views and a great restaurant in the lodge.
