Big Bend at Thanksgiving Week, 2019

It's funny, Leon was the only guy on this trip that I've met before (pie run this year in Taylor). But it didn't matter because all the guys and Linda were a pleasure to meet and talk with. We had a good time! Thanks to all who brought it up and "put it together." I know it wasn't as planned as other events which is fine by me. This trip I really wanted to ride Old Ore because I didn't get to at Round The Bend earlier in the year. Old Ore was a blast, the 5 of us! I mentioned probably not riding out there anymore but if I still have my DR650 and can get the vacation time I'd love to go out again for the 2020 Round The Bend (formerly known as Uncle's). I'll most likely stay at Chisos Mining Co like I've done in the past instead of bringing the travel trailer. It's such a great place to ride and hang out. Whispering Dave, Dahveed, Ed, Randypower, Leon, Jeff and the rest, it was such a great time and I'm so glad to have met you. I did, however, have to spend time with my wife who wasn't riding so my time was split. She had a good time except for when she locked herself out of the RV when we were on Old Ore. I don't know how it happened but she survived though she was cussing a bit when I got back. Maybe next time I can go to Top of the World. The birthday dinner with Ryan was fun. The Chili Pepper Cafe should start a frequent diner card.

I may have a sport touring bike (either Tiger 800 XCa or x or a KTM 790 Adventure R) next time. I love my DR but time to move to something different. If the DR is gone I probably won't ride off road anymore so you guys made this trip memorable.

Did ya'll find Thanksgiving a better time to visit than Christmas? How were the crowds?

"We took a rowboat 'cross the Rio Grande
Captain Pablo was our guide
For two dollars in a weathered hand
He rowed us to the other side."

The weather was better than we have had the last few years at Christmas. It was as crowded or more crowded than it has been Christmas the last few years.

Here is another one.

It won't hep you this time, but most motorcycle wheel bearings are pretty common and can be had at most auto supplies, if you know what to ask for, or they can be measured and matched at many bearing houses. There are a few of those around this area.

Yepper, when I was racing I went to Purvis and had them matched up.. Much easier than going to Lancaster,

Thanks for the tip! Got it sorted now but will bare it mind for next time. 👍

Hey guys, really great meeting and riding with you all! Thanks for including me as one of your own!

Here are some of my photos from the trip . . .

Things started with some nice scenery in this El Paso sports bar where I grabbed a bite after arriving on 11/22

Even at $5/person round trip across the river, we joked that these boatmen were the richest guys around

There isn't much to the town of Boquillas, but it was fun to visit and we had a good lunch
