Plan is to ride out to the National Missile Museum and climb around inside an old Titan II missile silo. Some coworkers have said that there are a few places that you shouldn't stop at along the way. Google Maps, fastest route? Or is there something else to see along the way? I am familiar with Austin to Big Bend, but to keep heading west is venturing into the unknown.

Oh, woops! That'd probably be helpful. I'm on a 2013 Ninja 650 set up for touring. No dirt. Thankfully I've experienced Big Bend on a dual sport.

Here's the way I would go. Keeps you off of I-10 for all but 100 miles. Bisbee and Tombstone are cool little towns. Not much on that stretch across NM but there is gas at Columbus and Animas. No gas between Animas and Douglas. Mentioning that as not sure of your fuel range on a Ninja.
