We just finished a fantastic 6 day ride to Galeana, Mexico. Here's a teaser video courtesy of Stingray which explains how we came up with the name of our ride report.

I aaaaalmost caught up with y'all in Galeana. But Tolantongo was worth it.
Looking forward to the RR.

Good grief, a title like Blazing Saddles, complete with a bunch of guys standing around and fire and no reference to beans? Or was that just implied?

The Camelbak fire hose was great thinking. A little bit more pressure might've helped. Perhaps someone pressing on the bladder.

I thought Scott was peeing on it at first.

Wow  the big bike crew sure can't compete with a George Foreman Grill farkled DRZ. :hail:

That said, as we topped out on that beautiful road out of Santa Rosa we were suddenly in the high plains which reminded me quite a bit of the old show Bonanza sitting at somewhere around 8,000 ft.

When Trail Boss first invited me to ride out and play I didn't fully comprehend what he was saying. You know, you just don't go riding in other peoples fields on a big bike, besides there's fences, right? No problem here though. RacerJohn sure didn't share my confusion and was already headed out.

Always knew the E-model was hotter than the S.

I think it is the big bore kit and wide ratio tranny. I have heard that setup is the "Hot Ticket". :lol2:

Here are some of my pics from iPhone. Working now so it may take several days before I have time to go through video and camera pics.

Ready to cross border. Parked at motel 6.

Good idea Brian. Here's a link to where the smaller bikes went:

If I was peeing on it I would have had to stand much closer.....

Brian your picture are making me sick...........

..................That I missed out on this wonderful ride.

Hope you and your bike are ok from the lowside.
Looking forward to your and Steve's future posts and pictures.

Yes Lee you missed out on a great area and some wonderful people. We missed you! Besides I can't look at the mighty Wee much when I'm riding it anyhow so looking at yours all day while riding would have been nice.

So if you're not bored with my videos I'll throw a few more out there then.

Finishing up our day with Trail Boss and RacerJohn.

We went up and over a few mountains and I believe this is part of the Double Dragon near the turn off to God's Golf Ball.

And like most afternoons the humidity picked up a little.

Trailering to McAllen

Milton, Racer John and I loaded our bikes on a borrowed trailer (Thank You, Robert Krull!) Tuesday afternoon and headed south to McAllen. An uneventful six hours later we arrived at our abode for the evening - one of the three Motel 6's in the area. The other 5 - JT, Scott, Chuck, Steve, and Brian - had arrived earlier and were all checked in.

2 DRZs and a KLR ready for a Mexican Adventure

Stingray Scott unable to contain his excitement

JT - always ready to ride

Brian - he made his big GS1200 earn its pay on this trip
MexTrek-248-L.jpg

Steve - raced the pro class in the Baja 1000 but agreed to ride slow enough on his Wee Strom so that we could keep up with him
MexTrek-232-L.jpg

And, finally, this little guy. He wasn't riding with us but he made sure to keep a close eye on us while we were at the Motel 6.

This is what it's all about

That is pretty much the permanent look on his face. He must have done it a LOT as a kid and had it just stick that way. Mom always said... ;-)

Day 1 - crossing the desert, lots of stops, Potrero Redondo, and electrical problems

Luckily the Anzalduas Bridge crossing was blessedly empty and we were able to get the required paperwork done in about an hour. Then came the long, boring trek across the desert. Finally, about 3 hours later, we arrived at the edge of the mountains.

That sure is a nice cave.
MexTrek-14-L.jpg

JT knew a nice southern route around Presa Rodrigo Gomez (a large body of water by the city of Santiago) that included a beautiful viewpoint.
MexTrek-20-L.jpg

A short time later we were riding west into the mountains on Hwy 20, passed Cola de Caballo (Horsetail Falls), and toward the road to Potrero Redondo.

Lunch on the way to Potretro Redondo

Tacos for all
MexTrek-27-L.jpg

Finally all the preliminary stuff was done and we were at the cutoff to Potretro Redondo and the first good riding of the trip.

More to come...

Not the last thing to burn up on this trip....
