BMW wants to redefine the scooter concept. They already produced the C Evolution which was an electric version of their C650GT. I had the chance to see one in San Francisco 3 years ago.

The CE04 doesn't look far from production. The C Evolution needs a replacement and the CE04 may just be it. The new bike is full of technology as you would expect from BMW. No specs yet but the bike will be officially unveiled tomorrow so there should more details coming out. The TFT screen is 10.25"!

And BMW Motorrad (German):

I like the general shape, but that wheelbase looks ridiculous and the seat looks like a torture device.

BMW pretty much put turn signals and a license plate on their concept. Not bad!
42 HP (or 31HP depending on the version you buy)
509 pounds wet (that's a whopping 64 pounds less than the previous version!)
10.25" TFT screen
90 mile autonomy
50 minutes to 4 hours 20 minutes charging time (depending on charger)
15" wheels
13,200 euros OTD for the top version - OUCH!

I don't hate it but I am not sure if I like it. Seat does look terrible. I probably can not afford it. I bought a 16 C650 Sport last year with 2.5K miles on it for $5700 I think. The resale on those are meh. Out of all the scooters I have owned, it is the best so far.

According to Asphalt and Rubber, BMW USA will bring the CE04 to the US for 2022 with a price tag of $11,800 MSRP. That's a lot less than the few C-evolution that were sold in California a few years ago (I think the price tag was $15,000 MSRP back then).

So 80 miles range and 75 mph top speed (electronically limited) isn't that great but if the charging time is fast, I'd say it's probably a good option for the city - which is the intended use. I think BMW offers interesting technical solutions including a line of clothing/ helmet that complements the scooter.

Yeah that flat seat doesn't look that great and a little thin but you never know. A lot of people complain that they need extra room on the seat and they can't move back. Well, from the looks of it, you can definitely scoot back.
