BMW K1600 Col de la Bonette

After the heavy snow of recent days, only one of the highest passes in the region was open - the Col de la Bonette.
That made for impressive pictures in Kaiserwetter.

This region was the frontier between Italy and France...
In the past, Central Europe was not as peaceful as it is today .... Many mountains and passes in the Alps and the Dolomites used to be heavily used by the military - and unfortunately many people died there. These are two ancient fortresses well before the First World War
