Central Texas Riding/Camping Adventure Class Opportunity

That big ol oak is a really old pecan tree, might not want to do that. If it doesn't work, might put you off in an oak grove that I know will work, just will be a couple hundred yards away. Just have to watch out for chupacabras, they like yuppies with hammocks.

Recommendations for lunch spot in Luling Friday.....lot of folks come from long distances to eat at the City Market. Think old school bbq joint. I think the hot links are their claim to fame. Its right in that pocket of construction but its still a small town, not hard to navigate. Blakes is pretty good as well if you didn't want bbq, old cafe style, in that same block next to the rr tracks.

Looking forward to it. I will be coming in a pickup with a utility trailer and my KLR 650. My wife will be with me but will take the pickup and spend the weekend in Kyle with my daughter and grand kids. We will need to park the trailer wherever you want it. Do we bring food for breakfasts and Friday night?

No problem on leaving the trailer, plenty of room. Yup, bring what you want to eat for Friday night and breakfast Sat/Sun mornings. Saturday lunch bring some cash for the place we are going. Saturday night I got enough burgers/hot dogs for the group. Friday night I think I am going to pick up a steak for myself, assuming @misterk knows it's on!

it's on! The devil's pitchfork vs. the angelic fire box!

Don’t be hatin, it’s not the 3 wheelers fault! We’ve had that same one in our family since 1983….she been a goodin! But I am sensible about it at this point, nobody rides it but me. Just have to respect what you are wielding.

Somebody is gonna get hurt on that thing. I rode one at stupid speeds as a kid before we knew they'd kill ya.

Helluva good weekend. Big shout out to Steve-O & family for hosting and making it such a hospitable experience for everyone involved. Great combination of trails, dusty roads, interesting stops, tasty grub, fireside storytelling, and ride reports among the crew. Learned some things, met some great folks, and - as an added bonus - tacked on some Lockhart BBQ on the way home with a fellow rider and aficionado of smoked meats.

We had a good turnout and I think it was a success. Two Africa Twins, GS800….pulling a trailer, KLR, DR650, DRZ, T700 and a Pan Am. Quite diverse.

Camp life was fun…..Cold Beer Conversations 🎶

1666559062811.jpeg

We had some instructional time going over controls, seating, standing, braking, leaning, dead stick turn arounds on a hill, picking up dropped bikes, finding personal limitations, tire repair skills got demonstrated out of necessity and some laps around the pasture/wooded trails.

Did some cooking/grilling. Pitchfork got used, but @misterk ensured his boxed up steak won. (sabotage)

We slipped in a little 50 mile adventure ride with some fun gravel travel.

We stopped at Whizzerville Hall and had some good pizza and gooder fellowship.

Went back to the ranch and folks did some more rides. Have to say I’ve never been chased in the woods by a Harley before, that was cool. The bike did better than I thought it would, but it helped the pilot wasn’t shy with the throttle.

And I’ve never watched the sunrise over a T7, not to shabby of a moto weekend! Wish I had more pictures, but it was a busy weekend for me. Hopefully others have some good pics to post up. Special thanks to Bwdmax for coming even though he couldn’t ride, in order to help me…. 💕 Garbear 💕

Thanks to Steve-O and his awesome family for all the hospitality. Riding was fun, burgers were great, fire pit chat was nice and meeting
some like minded individuals was great.

Steve prepped the trails really well and there was something available for all skill levels. I gained some confidence in the woods on the Pan Am which is exactly what I went there to do.

If Steve ever decides to host this again, I highly recommend attending. I think no matter who you are or what your skill level… you pick up something from attending.

I definitely got some valuable nugget’s from the tire replacement class. Thanks again Steve and family. This was a weekend I won’t soon forget.

I'll echo a few things already stated. Thanks to Steve and his family for hosting a great weekend. I'm sidelined from riding as I recover from my knee surgery but I still enjoyed hanging around the campfire meeting up with old friends and meeting new ones. It is always good to share knowledge, experiences and laughs around camp.

Sissy the yard dog knew something was up Friday as I begin loading the truck so she grabbed her camping gear and hopped in.

Some of us took the truck to lunch and arrived at the big city of Whizzerville ahead of those filthy bikers. Turns out the young lady at the counter is the Princess of Whizzerville...her Dad owns the town.

We followed the bikes on the way back to camp.

Not 100% sure what @misterk is up to here but I will tell you after his cooking demonstration the night before I keep my eye on this guy. He definitely requires adult supervision.
