Hallett Motor Racing Circuit is located 35 miles west of Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the Highway 99 exit of the Cimarron Turnpike. Situated in the rolling Osage Hills, 'Hallett' is a GREAT track for spectators (and campers) with a grassy infield affording views of the entire track and the Finish Line Café providing reasonably priced sit-down food service overlooking the front straight.

At 1.8 miles with over 80 feet of elevation change, 'Hallett' has long been a racer favorite. With new paving this year we may well see Danny Kelsey's blistering 1:14.706 track record, set last year, bested again this May.

The CMRA is hosting the 6-hour round 3 of the U.S. National Endurance Series as well as WERA National Sprint Races at this event, so there'll be even more than the usual action for those that make the trip to beautiful Hallett Motor Racing Circuit!

Thanks for posting this Alan. I so need to shout out to Barry and see if I can come out and play again.

I will even be in Tulsa for meetings on the 14th & 15th of May, I may have just found a reason to stay the weekend.

I have fond memories of Hallett racing SCCA..... Wish I could make this upcoming event to shoot it, but crutches and no weight allowed kind of trumps having fun.

Duke, based Barry's comments after you and Scott were at TWS, I know you are both always welcome to wear a "blue vest" at our events :thumb:

FYI Friday will be a CMRA "Licensed Racer Only" practice day, still a good photo op.

PM for my phone number if you've lost it; call me on the 15th if you're going to arrive late (i.e. not early ;-)) on Friday or Saturday and I'll work to reserve a vest for you, there may be a lot of photographers due to the USNE and WERA stuff.

Hope to see you there!

Bummer, Scott, but keep following Dr's orders so your full recovery can get done ASAP!!

With 45 points separating the top-two endurance teams and only 11 points between the top two overall sprint experts it is shaping up to be another great round of racing at ECR!!!

For reference, the track is 1.8 miles and Derek Wagnon set a new CMRA track record on the fresh Hallett paving at this event.... 1:14.371 :eek2:

whats a "fresh Hallett paving"??

Hallett has always been a very well maintained track but had accumulated a number of patches over time. The track has great drainage but they do have pretty severe freeze-thaw cycles in the winter there, and that inevitably takes a toll on asphalt.

The track was repaved edge-to-edge for the first time in many years shortly before the CMRA event. They did the job properly, grinding-off a layer before placing new asphalt (a 'racing mix', not the same as normal public street asphalt). The resulting surface got rave reviews from the racers ... smooth and uniform with good grip yet friendly on the tires.

They also resurfaced and expanded the paved areas in the paddock, another welcome improvement for our large crowd of racers.

I do believe I will come out to Eagles Canyon Raceway on Sunday morning to watch real road racing live and in person for the first time! Maybe even do the spectator lap around the track... :rider:

Be sure to look me up at the racer registration desk in the main building (it'll be obvious) and introduce yourself as a TWTexan!

The CMRA clockwise (race direction for this event) lap record at MSR is 1:14.536 set by Ty Howard on 6/13/2006.

Derek Wagnon set a new CMRA lap record at Hallett in May and Dustin Dominguez is hot after his First Place finish in the AMA Supersport Class (congrats, Dustin! :hail:) at Barber Motorsports Park last month. Don't miss the chance to see one of these challengers take Ty's record in what promises to be blistering competition at MSR during the July 6th Sunday Sprints!

See ya at the races :rider:

CMRA Grom Challenge Trophies

Among the many great Class Sponsors that support the CMRA and its racers is Ryan Andrews' FOUR81Motos.

Ryan was the driving force behind creation of the CMRA Grom Challenge Series and stepped-up to sponsor the series with these totally cool, totally original, hand-crafted trophies which I thought some of the TWT folks might appreciate:

The Grom Challenge and Ryan's trophies are a huge hit in the club with each event bringing more Grom owners to the grid and everyone anxious to see what Ryan's parts-bin and welding talent will yield in the custom trophy department.

MSR CLOCKWISE MOTORCYCLE TRACK RECORD FALLS

Highlighting a great weekend of racing at MSR, Derek Wagnon on his KTM RC8 won the Breast Cancer Research Foundation / P1 Racing Formula 1 Expert race in high style. Derek's second lap of the race at 1:14.179 bested Ty Howard's previous track record which had stood for eight years (1:14.536 on 6/13/2006).

Brandon Cleland (Yamaha YZF-R6) was 8.322 seconds behind at the finish, netting the "P1 Racing Top 600cc Formula 1 Expert" prize.

Eddie Thornton took third in the field of 17 competitors on his BMW S1000RR.

The CMRA will be back at MSR on August 24 .... where Derek will be working to take the counter-clockwise track record: 1:13.899 - Ty Howard – August 26, 2007.

The next CMRA event will be at Texas World Speedway in College Station ... stay tuned for more info!

Those trophies are totally kewl and don't look anything like the ones my 2nd ex-wife won bowling. :trust:

Nearly Last Chance to see MC Racing at TWS???

Nearly Last Chance to see Championship Motorcycle Roadracing at Texas World Speedway???*
A development plan has been approved by the city of College Station which would eliminate Texas World Speedway. If/when that may actually happen is anyone's guess, here's the thread for that discussion.

The CMRA will hold its 7th round of the 2014 season at TWS in a few weeks. Don't miss the chance to see great racing on this iconic speedway, the fastest track on our current calendar. CMRA F1 / A Superbike machines have been radar-clocked at 190mph+ on the long TWS front straight :eek2:

See ya at the races :rider:

Roadracing Action in Cresson, Texas, August 23-24

We'll be back at MotorSport Ranch in Cresson, TX, this time running counter-clockwise, for Round 8 of the 2014 CMRA season on August 23-24. "MSR" is a 1.7 mile course located 14 miles south of Fort Worth on Highway 377.

The CMRA counter-clockwise lap record at MSR is 1:13.820 set by Dustin Dominguez on 8/25/2013. Derek Wagnon set a new CMRA clockwise lap record at MSR last month and will surely be working to bookend it with the counter-clockwise record this time around!

With only 100 points separating the top 5 experts competing for the overall 2014 championship, and only 3 rounds left in the season, Derek will be pushing hard to open his slim 11-point lead. Any way you cut it, there's nothing but great racing on the slate for the rest of the season!!!
