I've had an item on my bucket list since I first went to the coast, and that was that I wanted to ride my motorcycle on the beach and fish. It's rare that I will have enough time to go stay a night, and with another child coming next month, I knew it would be even longer. So I decided to just go for it and do it in a day. Planned on leaving around 4 AM, and getting down to Surfside between 8 and 9, fish for a few hours, eat some seafood, and head back. All was going well until I stopped to get gas near Hempstead/Waller. I topped off, stretched a little, and when pulling away noticed the rear end felt weird. Apparently I picked up a vape pen piece into my tire when pulling in, because it still had air when I first got off to top off. Very thankful I had this happen at a station and not the side of the road. Luckily I keep towing coverage, and they towed me and the bike to Stubbs Cycles in Houston, where I had them put a new tube in for me. This 3 hour delay cut my fishing time down to about 30 mins so I just made the best of it. I was tying on a rig, and another AT happened to be coming down the beach. I've never seen one anywhere else, and what are the odds of seeing another on the beach lol. Got a few bites, but had to leave if I wanted to make it back before dark. I was feeling ok until about the last 100 miles. I've never done more than 200 miles in a day, but I did 500 yesterday and I can definitely feel it. So glad I just went and did the thing, though. And not a bad way to kill a day off of work.

Love the rod holders. I've been considering getting a three or four piece travel rod for carrying on the bike. Ironically, I had a big chunk of vape pen in my truck tire a while back which required a new tire. SAY NO TO VAPE!!!

I just took the only 2 piece rods I have. Unfortunately I lost the handle on my Penn Spinfisher somewhere along the way and that was another costly mishap lol. I've been hauling them around on my Harleys for several years, so I have a bit of a system down now. That was the first time I've ever lost a handle.
