Suppose you found yourself at the end of a business trip in Las Vegas with an extra 12 to 24 hours to kill. Then you notice that Enterprise (Enterprise!) rents motorcycles nearby.

1. Go for it?
(Y)/ (N)

2. Where to?

(Red Rock Canyon, Hoover Dam, Lake Mead, Zion, Death Valley, other?)

Just sitting here wondering to myself whether it's worth it...

160 west and north to Pahrump, Across Bell Vista Road to State Line Road in California, 190 out of Death Valley Junction to Beaty Junction and then over into the Panamint Valley. Rman, ThrasherG and I rode that on dual sports and it was amazing. A street bike would have made it comfortable. Death Valley is an amazing place.

Red Rock, but get out of the car and go explore on foot. We did a bus tour and were sad to not be able to go exploring. Fantastic place with a bunch of trails. It'll keep you busy for a while.

Or you could waste your time on booze and casino tables, but that doesn't seem your style. :D

Here's some photo fodder for you from our trip there.

Looking at photos, you don't get the feel for the size. You don't even get the feel for the size when you are standing in front of them. It wasn't till our guide pointed out the people rock climbing that the sheer magnitude set in. I've put a green square around the dots that are the rock climbers in the next shot.

I just shot you an email with the full res image since PhotoBucket resized it.

Or you could spent your time on booze, gambling and women, then waste what ever is left. Worked for me... ;-)

We rented Harleys out there one year and did a day trip. It was great. Went up Northeast somewhere into Utah, but don't recall the road (somewhere up by Red Cliffs, I assume) and then back down to Valley of Fire. Only thing is, watch the gas stops and distances. There is a whole lotta nothin' out there. So when my gas light came on and we didn't realize it was over 40 miles on to the next gas stop... That gas station we remembered passing on the way out and were aiming to hit on the way back wasn't actually a gas station. Just a "travel stop" with snacks and slot machines. Ended up sputtering, stalling, and literally coasting in the last few hundred yards when we finally got back to a real gas station. PHEW! Great times! Oh, and a VRod will do a wicked long rolling burnout right down the Las Vegas strip. In case you wanted to know. :-P
