EAST TX: East Texas BMW+ Motorcycle Club Meeting First Thursday

The September meeting of the East Texas BMW+ Club will be held Thursday, the 3rd at Legend's Burgers in Jacksonville (1630 S. Jackson) at 6:30 p.m.

The club will be going on it's first out-of-state riding & camping on September 11th to 13th.

We will leave early on Friday morning, head up US 259 to the Indian Hwy then to Pam's in Talihina, OK for lunch. Then across the Talimena Parkway then on to Cove Lake Recreation Area near Magazine Mountain for camping that night.

We will ride somewhere all around Arkansas on Saturday, ending up at Queen Wilhelmina State Park Saturday night. Both parks have showers & rest room facilities, lots of camp sites and fire pits (for caveman TV).

Right now I know of three definites and three strong maybes. Let me know if you want to ride along. We can break up into small groups for the rides if we have a lot of riders.

Hope you can make the meeting and the Arkansas trip!

The October meeting of the East Texas BMW+ Club will be held Thursday, the 1st at Legend's Burgers in Jacksonville (1630 S. Jackson) at 6:30 p.m.

Hope you can make the meeting.

I'm in. Clark will most likely be there, too.

Back from the Gap, Cherahala, Moonshiner 28, and just finshed the 108,000 mile check on the RT. I will be there.

Good news, we gained another member tonight, Chuck Henley. We are at 39 members! Welcome Chuck!

Also, Ron is planning a 3rd Saturday Club ride (October 17) to Sodalak's Restaurant in Snook, Texas to try out some of their famous Chicken Fried Bacon.

The plan is to depart from Legend's in Jacksonville at 9 AM on Saturday the 17th and cruise some back roads towards Snook. The ride down there should take about 3 hours with a stop or two.

Those not wishing to ride in a group can also just meet us there at noon.

I hate missing these meetings, my Thursdays are now taken up. But I'm up for Sodalak's Restaurant on the 17th, looking forward to meeting up at Legends for the ride down.

See you guys on Saturday at 9.

I'll be doing my first poker run that day, a benefit for Boys and Girls Club. (See my post under East Texas rides.) I do regret missing out on the chicken fried bacon, Ron.

Good trip - put in about 500 for the day (I took the long way home). Had ten riders show up for lunch; seven made the trip from J'ville there and back. (Edit) Ron did an outstanding job mapping out the trip.

Chicken-Fried Bacon (hereafter known as CFB) is good stuff; particularly when you dip it in CFS white gravy - Man-O-Man. Onion rings & BLT were top notch too. Anyone who didn't make it really missed out on a good ride and a good feed.

November East Texas BMW+ Motorcycle Club Meeting

The November meeting of the East Texas BMW+ Club will be held Thursday, the 5th at Legend's Burgers in Jacksonville (1630 S. Jackson) at 6:30 p.m.

We are also planning another 3rd Saturday Ride (TSR) on November the 21st (weekend before Thanksgiving). We plan to leave Jacksonville (parking lot of Legend's) at 8:30 a.m. and head generally south & east and end up in Hemphill for BBQ, taking mostly FMs. Along the way we plan to drop in at Legget's Cycle Shop in Joaquin. After lunch we will visit the NASA museum (http://nasacolumbiamuseum.com/). We might retrace our route home, unless someone offers a nicer alternate route. It should be about 188 miles from Jacksonville to Hemphill, 3+hours. Plan for all day on the bike. We have a gpx file if anyone wants it.

Hope you can make the meeting and the TSR!

It's looking like the rain should move into the area after the meeting. Hopefully we will have a good turnout.

Rich ...it's only water....we bathe in it every first Saturday of the month.

See you there

Ron

Rich, I just got into town this morning, following 3-days of seminar in Denver. I'm not going to be at J'ville tonight. I'm optimistic, though, about the RTE on the 21st.
An alternate route for the 21st, either to or from, might include a visit to the last international boundary marker in the U.S. It's up on FM 31 and you could get there by circling from Joaquin to Logansport and then back into Texas on LA highway 765. That's assuming there are some here who haven't seen it and are interested in it. Or do the marker then circle over to Joaquin by way of Logansport.
