Will be staying in between Caddo Mills and Lake O' the Pines area next weekend. Anyone have any tracks to share of the area??

LOTS OF DIRT PLEASE!!!

Tia!

Millions of miles of little 2 lane FM to MKT roads to link up. Same on the LA side of the Sabine. All kind of good loops to explore. I use paper maps and just make of a list of turns to take based on getting to where the roads meet. I NEVER EVER use GPS, miss everything you went to see while looking at a stupid screen.

For lots of dirt, not a "track" and not all that close to Longview or Caddo
someone mapped out the East Texas 450 on forest service roads
through the Angelina, Davy Crockett and Sabine National Forests.
I have not ridden or driven it myself but there are ET 450 YouTube Videos.

Good advice.

I ran the east side of the East Texas 450 about 3 years ago and really liked it.

There are a lot of good dirt roads in Cass and Marion county. Stagecoach Rd. in Harrison county is a good one, it's also the most haunted road in Texas.

I believe someone on here shared this video, maybe in the Toledo Bend area thread, but it might be what you are looking for. Sharing the video to give credit, but I'm also uploading the GPX in case the video ever gets pulled.

I live in Royse city. Just saw this. Little late.

A bit of a resurrection here...

After some vehicle swapping and more swapping and getting my step son settled with his new job and transportation, I finally got to rolling out the old Honda Shadow 600. Previous owners have customized it with half apes, pipes, seat, carb work and it appears to have undergone some painting experiments.

After some cleaning, adjusting, lube, battery, etc, the old Honda fired right up. I got plates for it and took her for a spin and she runs great. It is hard to beat a Honda.

I built some routes using OnX and Maps out of my area. Last weekend, in my truck, I drove about half of the red route on the top, left and the red route around Lake Cherokee. Both were great, but then there are a lot of roads around Longview that are. I rode the bottom purple one a few months back on a Ninja 400 and learned that sport bikes and bad or gravel roads don't agree with each other, haha.

Once I have confidence the old Shadow is sorted, I plan on riding these and the others below.

Got the Shadow 600 painted, lubed, tuned, legal and ready to ride. I rattle caned it with various shades of black I had laying around and topped it off with kind of a satin wheel paint from Jeeping projects. It was an experiment that turned out ok I guess. It is probably one of those 10' paint jobs. Before is was some type of unfinished shades of different blues, silver with damage. I suspect the rattle can paint with a coat of clear isn't going to hold up to gas spills well, but it was free. The rear fender is fiberglass and the PO looked to have scuffed it up and maybe painted it...don't know...but I left it alone for now.

I tuned the carb down to low idle so it lopes pretty good, like an old HD.

Lookin pretty darn good!

Wow, that is certainly a long ride! I enjoy visiting Rusty Axe Brewery and have a hat to prove it!

I am tentatively planning on taking this ride around Lake Cherokee tomorrow. I have not ridden the Shadow since I got it back on the road other than in the neighborhood, and want to ensure it is dependable. This ride is less than 50 miles.

But, it is a Honda and not too concerned, but suspect one of the forks is shot.
