I wish I could say this was on a bike, but not this go-round. At the end of January my wife and I took a trip to Europe with our great friends. I just finished editing my pictures and thought I'd share some here.

We flew into Amsterdam and stayed there for 2 nights. Basically everyone in Amsterdam gets around on a bicycle. There are also 165 canals in Amsterdam. Combine those two things and you get bicycle fishing, which we observed one day.

We knew where our hotel was by taking a left when we got to the pink bike with the pink basket with flowers.

We took a canal tour late in the first day. Turned out to be a bad idea after not sleeping for over 24 hours, so it was nap time for me.

We took a long walk in the rain/snow to find this windmill.

After the Heineken Experience, we were thoroughly brainwashed.

Final coupe shots I liked from Amsterdam:

From there we drove down into Germany and ended up in Heidelberg for a night. After, what I would consider, the best meal of my life, we drove around trying to find a hotel for the night. We ended up finding a really cool place above town, that was close to the Heidelberg Castle we were planning to visit the nest morning.

As planned, we headed to the Heidelberg Castle the next morning.

We hit the road and headed down to Fussen. After finding a hotel we headed to the Neuschwanstein Castle to keep the theme going for the day. Photos are not allowed inside this one, so I always respect that.

Headed back down from Neuschwanstein Castle, we could see Hohenschwangau Castle, but it was to late for a tour of that one.

The next day we drove to Grindelwald, Switzerland, where we would be staying the next 3 nights.

We spent the next two days sledding, eating fondue and chocolate, and drinking beer. It was fantastic.

From Grindelwald, we drove back north to Ghent, Belgium. After spending 1 day there, we decided to stay 2 nights.

The final day we had to wake up really early to drive back to Amsterdam to make our flight, but it was worth it for that last day/night in Ghent. Overall, it's a trip I'll never forget. So many great memories.

:clap::clap::clap::clap:

Great pix as always, Kory. And some good memories. I've lived in Germany, plus gone back for a visit, and it never loses its magic. I have a picture, somewhere, of that big wine barrel in Heidelberg. To bad you couldn't do the bike thing. Every two-lane road is an adventure, and Europe has more two-lane than you can shake a stick at.

It was cold in some spots, but others it was bearable. I was really surprised by the lack of bikes on the roads once we got out of town.

Superb pictures!

Thanks!

Great pics. The castles are really amazing structures. I can only imagine doing the same trip after it warms and the landscape greens up. Great job.

Very nice photos and good journal. I have a bike stored in Heidelberg you could have borrowed! Snow tires not provided! :)

I made the mistake of walking up to the Heidelberg Castle, instead of riding the tram. I was huffing and puffing for a while, but it didn't prevent me from enjoying a pilsner.
