No.....Im not gettn a haircut....
Im plannin a late Fall ride over east to the Barber Motorcycle Museum in Leeds AL

Gonna spread the museum visit over 2 days so as to not be overwelmed with motorcycledom. There are some nice roads in the area to ride either before or after the Barber visit each day.

The weather forecast next week looks more Fall like with temps in the 60s daytime...40s at nite....no rain

Leave Waco Sat 2nd...back on Sat 9th
(motels le$$ on weekdays)

It was a lot to see in one day. But we did it.
Very convenient, they have a check room for your helmet and gear.
We walked in from the pouring rain. They took our soaking wet Aerostitch suits and hung them up. That was way nicer than leaving it outside or carrying it.

Ive checked motels in Canton & Meridian MS...my Wyndam acct shows around $60-70 a nite for Days Inn Sup 8 or Baymont
Super 8 in Moody AL is under $70 a nite incl tax
Canton is 450ish miles frm Waco...Meridian 550

If you are careful parking your bike you can get a picture of the Captain America panhead with your bike in the background.

While you are that far, take a ride up Mt Cheha, lots of good roads in Alabama especially up north

Yeah...Ive allotted 2 days to get to AL...be in Leeds/Moody Mon afternoon. Then 2 more days of museum & meanderin Tue & Wed. Leave the area Thurs & take a more twisty ride back to Texas. Was thinkin more northerly if the weather cooperates.
Any good road/route suggestions would be greatly appreciated here where I have easy access

I will go see if I can find some of my old notes from when I lived on the West side of Atlanta I was about 30 miles from the Bama border so we rode over there quite a bit

I'll be rebuilding the deck while you are out riding. Hopefully we will be ready for a TWT campout sometime soon on the place, before it starts snowing.

Next week's weather forecast for Birmingham seems ta be holding on to warmer drier conditions until Thurs-Fri when it turns slightly cooler...but still dry.

Yer killing me Smalls ....

FWIW I got the head light and GPS power issue sorted last night. Will get all the Tupperware installed this afternoon.

Where will you be Monday and Tuesday evening?

If my BB trip blows up, I could be headed east.

In Montevallo at 3pm..& 45 miles to Leeds as per Google...we'll see bout that!
EDIT... Total miles...Waco to Leeds.. 810
Shelby Co 55 was a nice end of day diversion from a trafficky AL25 ...then bac on 25 for that last switchback laden hoot into Leeds...
Super8 in Moody..... NOT!!#... I remember that place now....I didnt stay there 10 years ago either
Americas Best Value...same price ...& closer to Barber too!

Todays ride began on Camp Winnataska Rd.....it was nice n twisty
Wolf Creek ...Sweet Apple & Easonville rds were pretty nice too

US231....Stemley Bridge...& AL77 were trafficky
Providence ...McElderry. not so much
Cheaha Rd...was the reason I took those roads.....astounding ..if a bit bumpy.
281 to Mt Cheaha was butter smooth

& ..sometime after....I noticed that familiar squirmy kinda handling
Now...we're talkin....
Late in the afternoon.....
Middle of nowhere....
On nuthin but county roads...
....& now its gettn dark
...& I missed a turn outside of Talledega!!!!

BUT....somehow ...I backtracked..found the right route back to AL25
...Oh...did I mention I was on reserve blinkin fuel for 20 miles.....?
Pulled in to Whitts Store for some gas...& thats when I really noticed the rear tire!!
Put some air in...& hedded the 15mi or so to Leeds.
Stopped at Rustys Q again & then to the motel.....whew!!!!
I'll plug the tire tomorro
bad135251b84f88be3c492ea5dba4e7e.jpg

AL49 from 281 south didnt have many signs marking intersecting roads so backtrackin again...
Clairemont Springs was one of the last roads I got to see the scenery on....
77 north into Talledega was gettn dark & leavin town on Renfroe Rd was trafficky at 5-5:30
Logan Martin Dam had lots of cars too...
Kelly Creek didnt.... Didnt have much of anything....lights...houses....spooky in the dark....& thats when I really started to notice that rear tire.
But AL25 was just ahead....
