GS can do!

No way is that good for that beast long term, even if he does land it!

:tab It would depend on the suspension and how much he's packing. As long as you don't bottom out, it is not too bad. I had my 1150 GS running about 65 mph down Pandale Road out North of Pecos and we were launching off these erosion berms that crossed the road. I had Ohlins on it and even though the bike was loaded for adventure, the landings were silky smooth. It was great... until a deer ran out in front of me and I smacked its head with my left jug! I was fine. It died. Ironically, that ride was AFTER I had blown the rear shock seal earlier in the day on a harsh dip on the Willow City Loop road at about 50 mph. It squealed like a pig when it happened. I just thought the sound was me squealing after I squeezed the tank a bit hard with my legs to keep from going over the bars... :eek2: :huh2: By the time I got back home a few days later, the bike was bouncing like an old Caddy with blown suspension!

:tab My 05 1200 GS landed pretty well also. I had Ohlins front and rear on it when we were hauling up Blue Water Canyon Road South of Weed, NM. This road was really narrow compared to the Pandale Road, and a good bit rougher. The berms had those big washed out potholes on the back side of them and rolling through them wasn't much fun. So just before the berm I'd gas it hard and shift back a bit to launch off them. The bike would clear them easily and the landings were smooth. I kind of slipped into a rhythm, one of those times when you become one with the bike and your sense of time just goes away. It was all too soon when we reached the Weed Cafe for lunch.

:tab My current 07 GS hasn't spent much time being ridden like that. But it too has the Ohlins front and rear, which makes a WORLD of difference!! I had Sarah riding with me, loaded with all three hard cases, on a week long trek through Utah and Colorado with Rsquared, ToeJam, and Jfink. We got into some fairly rough stuff (no jumps) and the bike handled it fine. I did have to talk to Sarah over the intercom just to keep her chilled until we were through it :lol2:

:tab Get the suspension right and it changes everything!

not good

Woodsguy that picture looks like the after shot of the previous post of yours. Is it the same bike?

"it was one of our group's bike @bobbydogirish . He is safe but the ultra tricked out GS is done and he already has what's left back home."

Found above info but still no word on what happened.

Can't ever have too much.

Yeah, I can see that front part of the trailer that hangs down on the bottom catching a root, edge of a pothole, or a curb and everything stopping abruptly. :flip:

Last weekend, a group of TWTers hit time2ridetx.com.

2wheelnut unloaded his GS and it was very capable in the tight, slick, muddy single tracks.

I was lucky the GS slowed him down enough I could stay with him. I can't wait to go again, such great fun. Had a blast out there with the 2 Daves and Mitch.

Thanks for posting Mitch. It was fun.

After riding the WR450 all morning, that GS felt a bit huge but I was honestly surprised at how well it did. I did have one moment where I forgot it was a 500 pound bike and tried to stop it like my WR and almost lost the front when it locked up in the mud. But...it recovered once I let off the brakes a bit.

It certainly wouldn't be my first choice for a day of riding stuff that twisty or tight, but it is good to know it can do it in case I'm ever out on an ADV ride and get into a section that is a bit tighter.

Thx for videoing me Doug. I didn't realize how much I was slowing you down in the corners until I watched it. The GS does corner a bit slow. (or at least it does when I'm the rider as I didn't really trust the edge grip too much)

Unreal
