Years ago I purchased Richard Gibbons book on the Hill Country and downloaded the routes. My Garmin BaseCamp locked up and I lost the routes. I went to Gibbons' website, texasadventure.net and the site is gone. Can someone send me the Hill Country Routes? I'm planning on riding the Hill Country again in March.

My all time favorites are Bullhead and Hackberry roads , don’t see many cruisers there . been a few years since I’ve been out there

In 2011 I was riding along Bullhead Road (I believe it was Bullhead) and saw this.

It was not here a few years later. I asked people about it but never got an answer.

The south entrance to Bullhead has a "no trespassing" sign on the push gate. Is it through access? The north push gate has no markings on it. I couldn't figure out if riders were allowed on that road or not. Hackenberry is clearly marked with "through traffic permitted".

Would be interested to know if you get clarification on the Bullhead access. I just got back from a few days riding and had to detour once on Squaw Creek Rd. I saw a few other gates on other roads that gave me pause because I wasn't sure if they meant the sides of the road were trespassing or the road itself. If gates were closed I just turned around.

Last week I rode Bullhead road. It is open. We came across numerous "no trespassing sighs on your 1100 route though the Hill Country. The signs are for the property not the road itself.

I stopped and spoke to the land owner at this location Google Map of Spot to confirm if the road was open. He stated it was but was very upset with the way motorcyclist were treating his property. He said because of the interactions with motorcyclist he was going to close the road to the public. Some of his complaints:
  • Going too fast through were his goats were kidding, killing a few.
  • A group of over 100 came though at one time scattering livestock
  • 4 riders leaving the county road and were cutting fence to get to another pasture
  • Rider left the road and got hurt and threatened to sue him
  • A rider was caught stealing a kid
  • Riders left the gate open and it took 4 days to regather the livestock.
He was HOT and if only part of the info he stated was accurate, I don't blame him. I told him I would be happy to turn around and leave his place. He said that was not necessary but please go though slowly.

Last year, also in March, I was confronted by another ranch owner here at the corral located here: N30° 38.462' W100° 00.812' That rancher had very similar stories and said his road was closed. I did contact the sheriff when I got home about the road being closed and was told it was not however the rancher had made numerous complaints about motorcyclists.

For two ranchers only a few miles apart saying almost the exact same thing is sure negative for the dual sport community.

People gonna People! Dang, it's unfortunate for those of us who just wanna meander through. I appreciate being able to view the properties and livestock etc...

I hope he was exaggerating about some of those more outrageous things. I bet 50 or more of us ride through respectfully each weekend day. If I lived out there away from everyone, that alone would be enough to drive me nuts. I have thought about giving them money or bring them a pie. I don't know...

I had a run-in with a landowner in that general area several years ago. Locked gates and claiming it was private. He was polite enough, didn't try to shoot us or anything, but also wasn't about to let us thru, so we didn't push the issue. Re-routing is par for the course ...

That's Texas, met a few of those ranchers in the past. If you want dirt on your bike without pissing people off, you have to go out of state.

I rode willow city loop years ago on a big time flower weekend , I am happy to say the motorcycles were not the problem that weekend and it’s a good thing I’m not a land owner out there . I’ve invited people to leave my property for stomping out a cigarette butt on the ground .

Riding River Ranch put a locked gate across Kent Creek Rd.

I appreciate you letting us know about this. The only answer I have is to resort to apple or pecan pie bribery.

I sure hate hearing that. I don't doubt that these complaints are legit.

Sure is a shame that a few irresponsible riders can possibly ruin a good thing for all of us.

There is one place the road used to run through his yard , it bypasses up a hill and around his house and has for the last 15 years . Just looked on google earth and clearly see the road going around his place but it did not look like that picture .
