I was given a early A10 BSA earlier this week. So here I go again.
Think it is a 51 plunger frame, pre-unit 650 twin. It runs but needs a bit of work.
Pictures to follow.

I've never heard of one of those so I googled it. Found this quick video. If it looks anything like the bike in the video, that's freaking awesome.

No, mine is not as nice.
Did you notice that when the rider turned on the lights he put his hand in front of the headlight? They didn't call Lucas the Prince of Darkness for no reason.
Here are a few pictures of the old girl. It has what is called a plunger frame for rear suspension. Mine has a Norton single gas tank, Velocette Scrambler fenders, a solo seat. Need to find a battery carrier and get the generator repaired.
I also acquired a 53 C11 BSA. Good thing it was free. It mat keep me busy for a year.
Some people would wonder why I restore old bikes? I feel it as a good thing to do, bring back old technology for those who have never seen a BSA, Norton, Ariel or any other classic bike. Some of the things we take for granted came from those bikes. Velocette had the first positive foot shift, Royal Enfield had the first swing arm suspension.

Well there are people out there who think Harley and Honda invented the motorcycle, what can I say!
Got word back from the BSA club and my A10 is a 53 model.
The other bike the 53 C11 is slowly coming apart. Keep finding issues I need to deal with. Good thing I'm retired.

Love the older stuff. I started riding and driving early 70s and have a reminder of each that I continue to work on.

Nice work John, I need to come and look at it some time with my really loud SMCR so we break the neighbors in right.

Progress is being made and parts being purchased. Had to clean the mag on the A10 to get it to fire. The 250 C11 is still being torn down. Need to pull the engine to get the broken motor mount boss welded and grinding all those terrible weld ground off. So many UNF bolts where there should be CEI studs. Good thing I'm a packrat and have some of the needed studs and nuts.265378

Thank you for your kind words, hope I can live up to them. Need to find someone who can weld up the cases. Where the front motor mount bolt passed through it had worked loose and broken out. Close to Granbury would be best. Don't want to split the cases but I might have to.

John try Dwight at Granbury Welding. Over by the post office in town. If anyone can, I am pretty sure he can. He welded up a cast part of a TL1000R frame for me (cast aluminum). If he can't he probably knows who can.

I have been busy stripping the engine down and cleaning it up, god what a mess. Once I have the cases split and cleaned I will take them over to Dwight.
Got the 53 A10 running but the tires are crap and I have new ones on order. Should have them on Monday. When I change the tires I will pack the bearings. Then I will make a battery carrier for the old girl and hope the generator still works. Lucas is the Prince of Darkness don't you know.

Front tire replaced and the bearings packed. Still waiting on FedEx for the rear, due Friday. Built a battery carrier but I need to get a Podtronics for DC. Also need to strip and clean the generators on both bikes. Progress is being made.

The A10 has new tires or as I jokingly say baby got new shoes. Built a battery carrier and have a Podtronics DC 6v regulator on order.
To much going on with the C11 (250) for me to pull the generator off the A10 (650). Both generators need to be sorted out so that could keep me busy for awhile. Did get some of that nasty weld off the front down tube.

Progress being made.266423

Tom,
Thank you for the info. Might just do that.
Just got the special tool that is needed to split the cases. So, progress is being made.

Dang John, I have a crankcase splitter and a crank roller bearing tool as well. Is that what you needed?

Thank you for your offer. Don't have to split the flywheels just the cases. The timing pinion is recessed into a hard to get at recess. I have several 2 legged pullers that can't get around the gear due to the way they and the cases are made. I will take a picture or two and post them.

My crankcase splitter bolts into the cases and sits on the end of the crank works a treat sir.

Doug, I'm going on the breakfast ride tomorrow. OK if I stop by on the way home? I will call first.
