High School Running Track

I took these pictures with my cell phone recently. I converted a portion of the images into black and white format. Track positioning was important. Being located near the apex of the turn track seemed to provide the best angle on the course. All pictures were taken with 3.7 mm focal length, ISO 160, and f/2.6.

What I find most interesting about the set is such HIGH shutter speeds and such DEEP DOF. That means, even in that bright light the ISO had to be sky-high and there's a general lack of noise in the images.

Tim and tmds3 - the cell phone is a old Samsung Galaxy. There are already 3 or 4 newer model versions since then.

Gina - I too really enjoyed this image. I selected this young lady because she seemed to embody the ideal track running physique. She ran so effortlessly...on the first lap. By the second one, she appeared less composed. I also sought to highlight the perfect shadow cast behind her legs to give the appearance of grace and poise. The scene setup is really a triangle or pyramidal structure that starts at her feet, goes over her flowing hair and down the backside and unto her left leg. It reminded me of the Raft of the Medusa painted by Gericault. Here is the image of lithograph overlayed with the pyramid symbol to show how such a geometric prop can help compose an picture or image.
