Honda Transalp 750

I'd love one of those 800's. Never heard of them before. I know the VFR1200X is a very nice bike. But a top heavy low tech piggie despite a glorious engine in it. I have a friend who liked them so much he bought 6 when Honda had a blowout sale on old models a few years back.

Even less dirt worthy than a Coupe Deville

Honda had an adventure version of the VFR for several years. It was the VFR800X Crossrunner:

Those are awesome.

I have a nation-wide Craigslist Alert for a Honda VFR1200F.

As with the ST1300, I'm noticing these rarely come up for sale.

They are not rare. Honda produced tens of thousands of them.

I theorize that like the VFR sport-bikes, they are so good people simply don't sell them very often.

This article glazes the TransAlp so hard it has to be paid. 🙂

This is a bike that I'm very seriously looking at. I own a NT1100 and a NX500. I like the power and highway acumen of the NT, but I want to be able to ride a dirt road. The NX is great fun on a dirt road and around town, but lacks the britches to do 75 for long stretches. The Transalp seems to be a good alternative to both. Enough power to run a couple of hours on the freeway and still light enough to take on a dirt road. Maybe Goldilocks after all?
