AWESOME!!!! Love the picture! Haha! I don't feel nearly as bad now. My daughter told me "Dad, seriously, there's something wrong with you, noone else dad or granddad rides wheelies"! Haha! Now i can tell her she's fibbing! LOL!
Here's a picture of my handguards. along with JNS headlight.

if i can figure out how to attach...
Just saw those JNS headlights today, any good? Read something about having to remove the adjusters?

Well they're ultra bright, and they are hard to aim, you just about have to do it on a dark night with no moon and shine them into a solid wall or woodline to get them straight, but they are so far ahead of the stock light that they're like aircraft landing lights in comparison. Low beams are wide angle and bright too. Cant really see the running light, cuz you run the lowbeams all the time anyway so it blends in.

I'll take difficult to adjust if it's bright

This one kinda lights up half on dim n all on bright. I’m still reflecting about my install fabrication

Bike is stripped. Headed to see bigman in the morning.
Counter shaft is pretty far got. The fitzco I got from mitch will buy me some time, but it looks like I'll be splitting the cases eventually. Plan on doing 2nd and 5th mod and new piston at the same time.

I sure hope so. Going to come back down next Saturday and throw her together. Then haul her home and wait for the odds and ends I need to have shipped.

Did a road trip this morning. Ordering parts tomorrow afternoon once I get paid. God willing I'll get rained out from work and have some time during the week.

Marko it was great to meet you! Thank you for the good deal on the parts.

Looking good. I seem to recall you saying it would be too cold to ride when you got her running. Thanks for the jinx, I’m freezing down here!

I said it would be cold.
I never said I wouldn't ride in it!

Soooo how do I start??

After staring at aspr’s not so perfect shaft

I said that’s not gonna happen to mine! So I ordered a fritzco (maybe he’s a member?)15 tooth spline

Installation is pretty straight forward. Remove the cover

And there’s the sprocket

Remove the two keeper bolts which were really loose

And she’s off. Then replace with the upgrade and reverse the process

Just don’t ask your wife to come sit on the bike for weight! That did not go well and actually you want weight off the bike !! Doh!!

Howdy all ,
I just changed my Counter shaft and did the 2nd and 5th gear upgrade .. Noticed the bearings on the Counter shaft a little more worn then Main shaft so I changed them both. Next thing is to figure out what sprocket to go with .. thinking the Xr600 , stock and one tooth less .. I found sprocket from across the pond that has a wide shoulder but I want to find the sprocket ratio first ... I’m thinking if I can break 100 , I can cruse on the interstate .. anyone doing anything similar?

How much did parts set you back? Where did you source 2nd and 5th gears? And did you replace the counter shaft with a 650l or 600?

I think fitzco has a 16t I ran 15/45 on my xrl and could cruise 80 easily. So 15/45 should be right there.

Got some parts in. Grips, levers, unifilter, taillight, lp light, sprocket bolts, oil filters, exhaust clamps, bolts & more bolts, chain slider, used battery box, tank rubbers and exhaust clamp.

Just waiting on an airbox.

The post jmz brought up got me thinking about an oil cooler. Has anyone done their own? Without buying these expensive kits?

No auto parts stores had fuel tubing today. Wth

I used Megazip to get the 5th gear..shipping was like 35 and had it in 9days .. i went with the R shaft so i could add the kick Starter later. I use Rockymountain for most parts and not sure of total cost as i had a ported head with fresh valves that i was throwing on and with winter here , ..I decided to open her up and do the trany work.. case together and topend on , will put in frame soon and hope to have on the road by next week end but I dont rush things when i dont have to ,,,just savor the work lol

I recently found out how much fun pulling the complete engine in and out is. Laying the frame on its side and tetris-ing it in was kinda a pain. Thankfully I was working with a stripped frame.
As posted my shaft is on it's way out. I've got a fitzco sprocket to go on for now. I'm at about 18k miles I believe. So once everything is back together I'll put some miles on it while I get my bmw going, then stock up parts and do counter shaft & top end. And since it will be apart I might as well upgrade the trans.
