This is how a Gold Wing rider (me) found a way to leave Celina and have a nice cool ride.

The truck was nicely air conditioned!!! My rear tire was flat as I was pulling out of the square.

Glad you made it home safely Mark.

Better in Celina than on the road home.....................

Here's some of my pictures I took today.

Yep, it's always great to have a large group of juveniles at a Pie Run! :nana:

Now here is an exceedingly nice pair of Whee-Stroms with Randy (Doons).

My son and DIL would :thumb: the Texas Tech T-shirt!

Don't these two look like a couple of umpires headed to a Little League game? That's Paula and Justin (MusicMan754) who rode with us from Arlington and those are cooling vests. Paula said they have to be really wet to work well.

I didn't get a picture of my brother, Ladd, and his Vulcan 1500
Here he is with Justin and Paula. We all met at the bro's house in Plano and rode up Preston Road (289) to Celina. My brother has had several motorcycles in his past, including a Susuzi 100 in the 70s and a Honda Magna in the 80s. Next trick is to get him to register on TWT.

One last photo of Jeff (Shaggy) who was our main liason with Lucy's. :thumb:

Next - I am going to try to get an idea of how many folks made it. The staff of Lucy's thought 70+ but I am going to scour my notes and see if we didn't have more than that!

I printed out a list from the "I'm goin" thread and then tried to check folks off. I know I missed a few. The amazing thing is the number of folks that either tagged along with ones already going or those that just decided on Saturday morning that Pie was a good thing to do.

------- unofficial, unguarranteed total is... :drums:

49 + 8 + 5 + 21 = 83

On our way up Preston (4 bikes), we passed 2 dual sport riders waiting to join the traffic (one on the east side, one on the west) - did that turn out to be anyone headed for Lucy's?

Well, as always Kathy and I had a great time even if we did have to cage it. We were at the meeting place for the Burleson group and looked down at my front wheel on the Voyager. There was a drip of something so I reached down and felt under the left brake caliper. Lots of brake fluid. We took Dragon Slayer home.
Somehow I ended at a table with all ladies, Kathy, Paula, Susan, & Elly. Lots of estrogen there, but I had a great time. Someone asked why I didn't get on the back of Kathy's bike and ride with her? My answer was I am not secure enough in my manhood for that yet.
Anyway we had a great time it was really good to see everyone. We really love associating with this group. Everyone and all of the bike are so diverse from what we are used to hanging out with.
Marty

It was nice that the tire was flat AFTER riding some twisty roads prior to arrival. I ride this bike as if it were a Honda ST-1800! It could have been 'less' fun for sure.

I posted on our MTA Yahoo Group site Thursday night for anyone wanting to make the Pie Run and ended up with 10 of us. We had a great time. Thanks to all that help put these events on. Some of us (including me) were in Hico last month and I have only done one other before (Hico in 05).

Have a great day!

I enjoyed the opportunity to get back on the road for the first time in four months and share part of it with everyone. Especially enjoyed seeing old friends/fellow riders, many I haven't seen in over a year! And especially want to thank Scott and Debbie for bearing the heat to join us up in our neck of Texas prairie land.

It was so wonderful to be back riding solo through the back country roads, even if they were paved this time.

We tried to talk TXShadow back to her camp via dirt but her ankle wasnt up to it. Maybe next time Elsie.
I am going to take you up on that!

I would love to ride some dirt or gravel in that area. My head zeroed in on the county gravel roads while riding by with that repeated thought.....
"I wonder where that goes....." Alas, this weekend jaunt was a bit too much, too soon for the foot/ankle. It's wrapped in ice right now.

I do want to return to the lake some weekend, maybe for two full days and go hiking around as well as getting wet. Combine that with riding some dirt and a good lunch somewhere would be awesome.

I like your bike!! Consider joining the Desert Rats in Big Bend Xmas-New Years week. :trust:

This was my second Pie Run and it was a great one. First one was Marshall which was good but this one was much better. Seems like it was a better turnout, food was better and generally a positive and high energy vibe. It was hot but who cares when you're having this much fun. The small town atmosphere on the square with its pedestrian friendly design was just perfect for a bunch of bikers to hang out and have some good food on a hot summer day. I brought a couple of friends than enjoyed it so much that they are asking about the next one. Thanks so much to the organizers for putting this thing together and those of you that posted pictures.

I forgot to mention that our trio of tortuga, MusicMan754+Paula, and myself had stopped at a gas station in Denton on the way home and some hot chick in an ice blue convertible Thunderbird with the top down honked at us. :sun:

She had some dude with a stiff neck with her, though...

BTW Doesn't that tally make you guys a quartet?

Occasionally attending these events for a couple years now and I've noticed a prominent pattern in myself: sensory overload. I've learned to avoid the gastronomical overload by eating light, but the visual (and auditory) senses still  It's like going to Madison Square Garden and unable to see anything in the sea of lights, colors, hustle and bustle; there are so many bikes in the sea.

So I usually find a wall to stand against, or a seat to sit, and just watch. And break the photographers' First Rule of Simplification (avoid busy and 'noisy' shots) by shooting close ups of a huge group of bikes: a chaotic mix of colors, shapes, textures....... I was especially fond of this group because of the colors and juxtapositions: sports bikes next to dirt bikes-wannabe-sport bikes-and-turned-into-Motards (a juxtaposition in itself, but I think I can sense why they rock). :trust: I took a lot of photos of this group from a variety of angles; they all give different perspectives.

Then there are the oddballs. They really stand out because they are, well, unusual and interesting!

I have to admit this was another, maybe most favorite group. Afterall, they are what I like, and have: street legal dirt bike and a V-strom. I grinned big when I saw them pull up.

Knobbies on a bike are Doc Martins; serious business $@^* kickers. They suck on the freeway but just as fun on sweeper and roller coaster tarmac as they are biting mongrels on dirt/sand/gravel. I had a blast with the 250 this trip and on the winding FM roads. (as the wheelie testified....).

Uh oh.....

The officer stopped to inquire what was going on. After being informed, questions and laughter ensued regarding bikes, TWT events, etc and I suspect a local officer may be joining us in the near future??

On the left edge of the above photo, you can see the Leader of the Pack approach. After a reporter asked for "Who's your leader for this function?", an old song suddenly jumped into the minds of everyone in ear shot (that was old enough to remember)
"I met him at the pie store....
He's the Leader of the Pack.
vroom, vroooooom".

You've been branded, Chuck.

Our TWT Gate Master (who's the Key Master?? ;-) ) and Debbie made a special appearance from Hinterland Down South. I'm duly impressed by the long ride in the heat

I don't know if y'all noticed we had a Watcher hovering over us, to make sure we all enjoyed our food. Good thing he wasn't facing the other way.

I avoided riding in the heat yesterday and had a leisurely ride home early early this morning. It was so cool and hardly NO traffic. :zen:

My only minor mishap on the way to Celina was a bee that went down the back collar of my mesh jacket and stung me twice. After tearing off my jacket (after I stopped), I took perverse pleasure watching him wither and die on the ground.

My own ride report will be posted on my blog site later.

Well this was my second and my daughters first pie run, and she really enjoyed it

Unfortunately we had very little twisty time and more slab, since we live in Mansfield there weren't a ton of options.

It was good to meet a few more people and enjoy the day.
