Anyone knows who carries Husqvarna or KTM valve shims in Houston?

I just ordered a kit online even though I will probably never use them all  That said, my worthless memory cannot recall where I ordered them from and I can't find the email I got confirming the order

Yeah, didn't feel like spending $80 for a set I'll probably never use. Exhaust side measured out fine, so just needed a couple for the intakes. Of four Houston dealerships I called, none had any in parts. All said their service department has them, but only for doing the job if you take the bike there! One guy was really surprised that someone asked for shims, as he "didn't think anyone did that themselves anymore"! What a sad world (city) we live in.
Ended up ordering from RMATVMC, but even there, they only had one of the size I needed, SMH.

Yeah, I ended up ordering a kit for $80 for one very small adjustment. Crazy they're that expensive.

What size shim are you needing?

The kits are cheap compared to the price for individual shims from the dealer. I have lots, but I do lots of bikes. I have had shim kits for over 30 yrs. While $80.00 seems like a lot, and you won't use them all, it is very handy to have them when valve shims are required. Consider them a tool. I go through a lot of bikes and use a lot of shims over time, so I see it as a cheap investment.

IIRC, most of the KTM shims are the same size as Harley shims, but the advantage that HD shims have over the kits is that they can be purchased in smaller increments. You can usually walk out with what you need on one trip as they usually have lots in stock. I was going to go this route, but it was just easier for me to order a kit so I didn't have to drive across Dallas and I wasn't in a hurry.

Exactly, they aren’t “KTM Shims” they are just shims of a certain diameter. Many different brands use the same shim sizes.

Did not know HD shims were 10mm; thanks, I'll have to check that out next time. I could not find any other brand that uses 10mm.

I thought the only HD that had lash shims were VRODS - could be wrong.

VRODS stopped production 2017. Be interesting to know if shims are still available from HD

Years ago, I bought v-rod shims from a local Harley shop. Bit of a mess, they were all in the toolbox of the only tech there who worked on v-rods. Many were loose, unmarked, but most were in KTM-labeled packages. The tech, two parts guys, a sales guy, and I were all standing around laughing like a buncha drunks. Oh, there were also Rocky Distributing labels on the packaging.

If you go that route, call first, and maybe ask for the service department, not just parts. And take your good micrometer.
