The first day in the truck with Prince Mark we came across the scene on the side of the road in Wyoming.
It was a young guy from Leadville CO on his way to Alaska. Seems he was just riding along and his trusty KLR just quit. When we pulled up he had the carb in his hand. Seems he thought he might have a plugged jet. Jets were clean so he put the carb back on and Mark and I asked a few questions while he worked. Once everything was back in place he tried to start it but it was slow cranking as he had been trying different things and ran the battery down. I told him to wait a second as I wanted to prime the carb and not waste the last bit of battery operating the vacuum petcock. That is when I noticed it…somewhere in his trouble shooting he switched it to RES…NOT he switched it to OFF. I flipped it around to RES and he primed it by sucking on the vacuum line. Mark gave him a good push and he dumped the clutch.
Good luck buddy hope you make it to your friends in Alaska!
