Idaho or Bust….3 Texans 4 Strokes 5 States

The first day in the truck with Prince Mark we came across the scene on the side of the road in Wyoming.

It was a young guy from Leadville CO on his way to Alaska. Seems he was just riding along and his trusty KLR just quit. When we pulled up he had the carb in his hand. Seems he thought he might have a plugged jet. Jets were clean so he put the carb back on and Mark and I asked a few questions while he worked. Once everything was back in place he tried to start it but it was slow cranking as he had been trying different things and ran the battery down. I told him to wait a second as I wanted to prime the carb and not waste the last bit of battery operating the vacuum petcock. That is when I noticed it…somewhere in his trouble shooting he switched it to RES…NOT he switched it to OFF. I flipped it around to RES and he primed it by sucking on the vacuum line. Mark gave him a good push and he dumped the clutch.

Good luck buddy hope you make it to your friends in Alaska!

We blew out of Steamboat. Guess what, never saw any boats, or steam. See, Colorado people have been full of poo a long time.

Trying to shake things up on the return route to see a little bit of fresh stuff on the way back to the truck, while taking it easy on my hub/bearing.

We skimmed through several sections of woods that were new to us. This spot is one of the highest of our trip at 10,200.

Pretty scenery, chilly temps, smooth sailing.

Grabbed some grub at this cool place in Grandby that was built in the 40s.

The last leg was super cold, in the 50s. Actual pic of us in the last mountain pass.

Gary snagged a pic from the porch as we pulled on the reins.

Why is it called Empire? Named it after New York, the “Empire State” in 1861. It was a silver mining settlement back in the day. We got our chickens all nestled back in the hen house.

I think that is all she wrote….or all I wrote….or the fat lady is singing…..or I’m singing. I don’t think I have any more in me. That’s what she said.

Oh boy, I get to be on the road again today…..for a 1000 miles….sitting on my butt. I’m thinking about having my rear end surgically removed. Only thing left to do is to do it do it do it……the drive, not the surgery. I’m ready to be home with my hot squaw….and I guess her kids too. I’ve seen some sights and the ride’s been somethin, see ya later grungy thumpers.

I don't know if yall will be happy or sad to hear we are all back at work sitting at our desks. I had 786 emails waiting for me this morning!! You can't ride bikes forever! Or can you? Till next time.......
