It was pretty awesome! We ended up doing more of the posted track than most, because we got up and out early. We got through ahead of the construction accident detour and we got through just ahead of the road closures for the fire.

Other than not being able to stand up much with a passenger, it went pretty well. But I am blaming Jacob for wearing out my rear wheel bearing!

Yes it is. Those JQ guys are good riders and good people. Three generations out riding together is quite a huge and cool thing.


Kromy's67 video look to be set to private when I try to watch them.

I always wear this when riding off road. I had a 30 plus mile an hour get off and landed on my knees. No injuries recorded, not even bruising. :)

How do you wear them? Under or over your riding pants? Boot to brace, any rubbing etc...?
I've been looking for a pair knee braces just don't want junk!

Go to Revzilla and search for knee guards. You'll also want a pair of knee guard sleeves - prevents the straps from the knee guards from chafing your legs. Find the sleeves on Revzilla as well.

(1) Put on the sleeves

(2) Strap on the knee guards (they will be left/right dependent) over the sleeves

(3) On go your riding pants - over the knee guards obviously

(4) Your boots go on with the lower portion of the knee guards into the upper part of the boot. This may mean you lengthen the straps on your boots - I did.

(5) Go crash and have fun :eek2:

I wear the cycle gear heat out long johns. The knee pads go over these. No chaffing even in 100 degree weather. They are not expensive either. I wore my knee pads everyday on this ride, including up and back on the highway. Another benefit, the 800GS is known to be a little hot on the legs when riding in hot weather. I do not feel the heat. :)

I posted a few CDR pics @ https://www.instagram.com/cwj1290/?hl=en (scroll down appx 20 to get to them).

FYI I headed north after our wrap-up dinner in Steamboat, but ended up having a fall up in the mountains outside of Helena, MT that forced me to head home before hitting Banff (one broken rib and a gimped up foot). Luckily, John Moss was with me when I fell which was good.

So out of the seven folks in our Silver City to Steamboat ride group we ended up with three that incurred broken bones of some sort - not the best record for sure, but we still had great fun!

Best - Curtis (KTM 1290 SA on the Jun-17 CDR trip)
