Those last two water crossings were some of the slickest I have encountered in a long time. You start taking these for granted after a while. Wakeup call!

Keith, had fun trading leads. Behind you on the gravel watching your 60mph wheelies then passing you on the hard surface for my "quick runs". I could hear you roll on the throttle and I knew to give you the pass signal because you were coming by. After one year now with your Beta 500, you can really ride it well in all conditions.

And JT, well, you are just plain quick on the Honda XR-R on all surfaces. Out of sight (literally and figuratively)!

What a fantastic day of riding.
I got to inspect a barbed wire fence close up.
Just riding too fast and looking at the great scenery.
I did not get hurt and broke both mirrors off.
All in a days riding.
Sander you plan great rides.
It was nice meeting some new folks.
Dan, barb wire, did it tear your gear? This is why we ride wear.

Thanks for putting the ride together. It got even cooler when I extracted myself out of water on the slickest slab I’ve ever seen!View attachment 61363

I think my left foot was up in it that is all.
I was dazed for sure so my foot may have been in some vines.
Wish we had someone with video of it as I am not planning on doing it again. Don't hold my beer I am not going to do this again. HA!
I probable stopped 12" from being sliced and diced.
It was for sure an oh s### moment with my stomach up in my mouth.
No gear tear at all.

Another great Sander ride! Looking fwd to the next one.

A short video at a water crossing. I nearly lost the back end while crossing (before this video), then the slippery surface claimed the second rider in this video. Sorry I don't know his name, but he gave me his permission to post it. The first rider is Craig on his Ducati.

Been there, done that, more than once... :wary:

I've tried every technique suggested. I think it boils down more to luck than technique sometimes. Once it starts to go, there really is no saving it, and it happens so quick... If you even think about giving it gas to pick it back up, the back end will just shoot out from behind you. I've even had about 1-1/2" deep fast moving water just sweep the front end out from under my GS before the back end even got near the water! I was just easing it in nice and slow... then BAM! I'll take gravel, sand, rocks, and mud over concrete any day... :zen:

Dan, I'm still trying to figure out how you broke BOTH rear view mirrors.

Thanks for the video as usual, Keith, you always make us look good. Its great to see JT back to form, kicking out the rear wheel on the XR.

Does anyone have an issue with me posting some of these pictures/videos on the TARA Facebook page?

No issues with my pictures & video.

Is there any association between TWT and TARA? I was confused at the 2017 TWT Big Bend ride when I met a few people who said they were there for the TARA ride.

Me too. I can not figure it out. Snapped them off at the mounts on the handle bars.
I must have been in some sort of shock as I threw one in the bushes. I do not litter and I could have used that one and just bought a new handle bar mount.
I am still learning for sure.
But that did not ruin my ride. I had a fantastic time.

I picked up a white water bottle from the restaurant, if the owner wants it back just let me know. It has a car logo on it that I cannot pinpoint right now, I believe infinity.

I've been helping Richard with Texas Adventure and now TARA since around 2004 I think. At one time, he had a Yahoo Dualsport group and I convinced him to just move over to become part of TWT. He's been here ever since. There is no formal relationship though if that is what you mean. He links folks here from the TxAdvriders.org site.

Thank You Sir! I was wondering where I lost it! No worries though. I can get another. I work there. You have my permission to lose it for me:)
