I got a call from Ponder: @ 11:30 there were 12 tables of 4 already seated and more people still coming in.

Why they felt the need to call me and tell me what I'm missing is beyond me...

I just got back, Chuck said there were 75 bikes.

Squeaky, it was cool that everyone let everyone else ride their bikes, I know my clutch hand is sore.

Someone counted 70 bikes in attendance. Sorry about the drool on that Speed Triple!

I REALLY wanted to make that ride today. From the pictures, looks like no rain! I had one of those "inlaw social obligations/get togethers" that I'd committed to. Fun! I hope to make the next ride.

Good times... Good times. This has got to be the first TW Tex meet I've been to where the V-Stroms and KLRs were outnumbered by other bikes.

My pics:

Still had a bunch of V-Stroms - 7 or 8 I think. Several FJRs and VFRs, and ZRXs, and a KTM950 that everyone was looking at. One trike and one Ural that was transporting a family of 3.

I think Tim (WhtKnight) counted 70 and Jeff (bung) counted 71. Larry (jetblue) tried counting and gave up. I didn't try. I asked our server how many people she thought were there and she guessed 80 based on the restaurant's capacity.

It was great seeing folks that I haven't seen in a while. Lots of stories and good conversation.

Oh, and good burgers and apple pie with ice cream! :thumb:
My wife went with cobbler and ice cream, also :thumb:

No rain for us - maybe a drop on the way there.

So, who called? :trust:
(I can think of at least 3 different ones...) ;-)

Re: Pie Run VII "Possibly Perfect Pie in Ponder, TX"

Tristan and I made it home. We both had a blast. This was his first "long" ride, and he did great!

I must apologize to the gang that rode with me. Unbeknownst to me, the route I chose had several miles of gravel road. FM5 south of Weatherford was completely ripped up and covered with gravel for a 10 mile stretch. We hit it just after a water truck had sprayed it down. It was nice that it wasn't dusty, but the muddy road made a nasty mess of everyones bike!

Also, the county roads we traveled were very poorly marked, and as usual, I missed a few turns, guessed on a few others, and with the help of the rest of the gang, we somehow made it. Again, sorry guys!

Looking forward to seeing some pics of the filthy red ZRX. ;)

Even with the rainy start, it was great time seeing everyone! Good Food!

Re: Pie Run VII "Possibly Perfect Pie in Ponder, TX"

Sorry I missed 'yall. :headbang:

Some obligations came up on this end preventing me from attending. Based on the early reports and pics, the event looked like a grand time. WOW that was a lot of bikes.

Thanks! :thumb:

SOrry I missed y'all. I made it up to Hico and had lunch and pie at the Koffee Kup. Caught some rain both on the way up and way back but all in all not bad for a 400 mile day, even if I didnt make it up to Ponder to join the rest of you. Sounds like it was a bit of a party

Hey, no prob. Great initiation for my new F650GS on its first ride out of town. I appreciate everyone's patience with my falling behind several times. Darn break-in period!

That little GS looks like it should now... Nice and dirty!!! I'm glad I commented on how good it looked right before we had our 10 mile stretch of soupy road base.....:lol2:

I had quite a bit of fun today. Lots of great folks, and a really good burger. That was my first time up there and it's definitely on my list of places to return to. Thanks everyone!

There were about 25 KLR's 15 miles from Ponder over at Curtis's house in Rhome for a Tech day.

Re: Pie Run VII "Possibly Perfect Pie in Ponder, TX"

Thanks again for organizing the group ride Wayne - enjoyed it. Tristan looked pretty comfy back there - didn't try to jump off at all

A couple pics of our group should be attached if I did this right...

almost forgot...just think of the dirt as "poor-mans powder coating" ;-)

Re: Pie Run VII "Possibly Perfect Pie in Ponder, TX"

Yeah, but it took 70 bikes to do that.

Yup, but T-dub was still the one and only! There was a Sherpa, too, and it was nice to see another small bike show up.

Re: Pie Run VII "Possibly Perfect Pie in Ponder, TX"

I rode around for Hours and never could find the place...

Re: Pie Run VII "Possibly Perfect Pie in Ponder, TX"

I enjoyed the good food and the whole day!

Re: Pie Run VII "Possibly Perfect Pie in Ponder, TX"

I had a blast!! This was my first long ride...ended up doing 170miles driveway to driveway on my glorified dirt bike. I certainly need a bigger tank and a tank bag and and...more PIE!!!!!!

Glad to meet some of ya'll.

btw..I was the goof-ball in the motocross gear.. :rider:
