At the suggestion of another member, it's time to give a bike-night another shot. Spread the good word.

2nd Wednesday of each month. 7 pm - 9 pm-ish. So, 1 week each month until enough interest and commitment warrants doing 2 per month or more.

Last time we had a Katy bike night was 2022. It stopped because the group declined from over 30 regulars to 2 and only once a month. At that point, I gave up trying. Some people aged out, interests changed, moved or had family commitments. I get it, people of a certain age and family status have this stuff going on. But when even once a month couldn't get more than 2 people, it got discouraging. So, it ended. I still have some faith that motorcycling is a thing for the greater Katy area, so here I am creating a new thread.

In order to make this work and gain some traction, we talked about doing this just once a month. This isn't much of a commitment, even for people who have kids/grandkids and other hobbies and it doesn't interfere with Monday night football either. We also want to do it earlier in the month, the 2nd week specifically, because everyone knows that end-of-month stuff is usually on people's calendars and the first week, they're broke from paying bills.

And if we can get a consistent group showing up, ramping it up to twice a month can happen. I just know that every week wasn't sustainable for a group that was of parenting age and probably was prioritizing soccer and baseball or ballet or whatever. No judgement, that's just family life. Now, maybe the kids are old enough that they want nothing to do with their parents :lol2:and now they're free to come to a bike night.:rider:

So, I'm shooting for the first meet to be next week, June 10. Hope to see some people there.

Well, I get off work at 7:15, but could run over after (I am up the road at the hospital).
Will be there if I remember.

Bob, it’s good to see this resurrected.
I’ll send my former bike in representation, that is if Nolan (aka @blupupher ) remembers… 😅

Since I am complicit in this endeavor, I will attend. Thank you Bob for posting.

If the Stanley Cup finals go to game 5, I'll be making a huge personal sacrifice since game 5 will be that Wednesday!!!! Oh, well. It's for a good cause, right?

Unfortunately I’ll be working. At least for sure the next two months.

Is the "day of the week" the issue or just "evenings?"

20 years ago, Wednesdays got started by someone other than me. I think we just kept doing Wednesday out of tradition, but I don't really care what day of the week it is. As far as I'm concerned, I'd rather pick a day that makes sense for the most people. It's not like it's "my" event, it's everyone's. I don't even live close to it and the $14 round-trip tolls on 99 really add up anytime I go to Katy.

It’s the day of the week. My days off are Thursday, Friday ,Saturday till August.

No reason we all can't talk about the choice of day. Hard to find common ground when people have all kinds of family obligations already on their calendars.

Well, it looks like I won't be able to make the first meet. I'll be slugging it out in traffic, picking up Mrs. X1Glider, on the other side of town at Hobby with her arrival time at 8:00.

I may be a few minutes late, but I will be there.

Stanley cups? I thought they made tools, I didn't know they made cups too. I guess you learn something everyday!

So, how did the first meeting go?

We had three people and two motorcycles. Good conversation and a good venue with good food. Look forward to you (and hopefully some others) joining us next month.

I had intended on joining , but customer called with an emergency at their hotel on the Fire alarm system just 45 min before leaving. Was looking forward to getting out ,and talking motorcycle stuff.

Was going to go (even washed my bike for the first time in months), but my wife called as I was leaving work and said our daughter was over visiting, so headed home instead.

Will keep an eye for the next one though.

Tomorrow night is our second Katy Bike Night of 2026. Hope more of y'all can make it out this month. See you there...
