We were able to get out and attempt family pictures in the bluebonnets. We planned to go further out towards Independence, but ended up finding a nice filed closer, just past Chappell Hill.

Body: Nikon D810
Lens: Nikon 50mm f/1.8
Aperture: f/8.0
Focal Length: 50mm
Shutter Speed: 1/200th
ISO: 500
Notes: I put the camera on the tripod and in timer mode. I set it to take 9 pictures, each a half second apart, and then prayed that the girls looked at the camera.

Aperture: f/8.0
Focal Length: 50mm
Shutter Speed: 1/200th
ISO: 400
Notes: Moved the tripod a bit closer and did another take. This one is actually a composite. The little turkey was looking off, but everyone else had good expressions. So I had to take her out of another frame an paste her in here. You probably would have never known, at least I hope not.

I can't remember where we were coming home from, but a red-tailed hawk flew right in front of our car a street away from our house. My wife is used it this by now and said, just go home and get your camera. I did and her and the girls stayed in the car as I tracked the hawk. By the time I got back, it was on a street light outside of the local elementary school. It then moved to several different places above the school playground, but still within reach of my lens. It eventually went further out of reach, and I gave up, hoping I had got a few good shots already. Oh, and a mocking bird gave the hawk all it could handle, constantly attacking it on the back. The hawk would barely even acknowledge the mocking bird.

I forgot about the TWT Photo Assignment until the last day. This also gave me a chance to try out my newly acquired 58mm f/1.4 lens. I told my brother if he ever wanted to sell it, I would buy it from him. Well, I finally got my chance. He's switching systems and got rid of all his Nikon gear, giving me the chance to snatch the 58mm up.

:tab We have those kinds of days around here too :lol2: It just sucks when it is me...

:lol2:

Even your girls are tough after reading your Ark. report. I thought for sure after reading about a couple of those incidents they would never want to get back on the bike again. Kudos to them for doing it! It does help to have all the gear on though. Daniel though, he's in a league of his own! :rider: :eek2:

My oldest has been in t-ball/baseball season for over a month now, and I've finally had a chance to take my camera to a game. This is her first season to play and she's gotten much better as the season has gone on. That's all I can ask, and she does try. They do coach pitch for 4 pitches, and if they didn't hit it, they break out the tee. Last week she hit the ball twice on the 3rd pitch. This week she was only able to foul a couple off, so she had to use the tee. She wasn't too happy about that because she was comparing it to the week before.

Notes: Her facial expressions were priceless. I got a good chuckle as I looked through them all when I got home.

Love the hawk landing (second to last) the feet out front and the eyes looking right at the point of contact on the post. Then you capture the complete opposite with the shot of your daughter with eyes closed swinging the bat. Great stuff. I wish I had more photos of my kids as the grew up. Keep taking those shots of them as they grow you will never regret it.

Thanks, I got a good laugh out of that. :lol2:

Kory,

You are truly very gifted and capture the moment so well. The color balance and compositions are superb. Your daughters are absolutely adorable and extraordinarily photogenic.

I look forward eventually to another picture filled ride report.

Keep on truckin'...
