WAY West Tx 3rd Annual - Chihuahuan Desert Hard Dual Sport Ride

Any big bike appropriate riding out there? I don't mind a challenge here and there, but I don't like to beat myself and my bike to death.

This ride kinda makes me wish I still had the Husky 450.

How many miles a day do you ride typically out there? Maybe my electric supermoto could handle.

For big big opportunities. Carter Fury can probably give us some info on that.
I've seen a road that roughly parallels I25 north of Las Cruces that goes on for miles that winds through rolling hills that needs some exploring, I haven't yet.
And some down south of town -
I haven't been down there yet. Kilbourne Hole Volcanic Crater | Bureau of Land Management (blm.gov)
There are some good ridge roads that I have ridden, but the transitions through sandy, rocky creek beds, and the climbs out are a challenge, for even a plated dirt bike.

Our mileage per day, probably 60 or so. Not only were we exploring but we didn't have a route to follow or a plan other than, "That looks like fun, lets go check that out" or "we came in on that road on top of that hill over, how can we get back to that spot?"
These guys did 92 on this route - TrailTaker I think this in one of their videos from that route:

I'll try to be there if my timeline moving to El Paso works. If all goes right I should be in El Paso by 03 March.
Gabriel, make sure to fix your rear brake!

I’m very interested, gotta choose between Arkansas twisties or NM rocks. I like them both!

Gabriel,

Below was our rough plan last year, 2020. In actuality we rode Prehistoric Trackways on Thursday, Dona Ana on Friday, and back to Prehistoric Trackways on Saturday.

It reminded me of riding as a kid, just exploring. At the end of the day we just headed for the nearest road to get us back to the motel.

For 2021 I plan to do the same type of exploring, without GPS. Just going with the flow, riding by sight.

2020
Thursday, March 5th, 2020 - Las Cruces, NM - Day 1 - A little of everything, Dona Ana Mountains maybe Ruby Mine

Friday, March 6th, 2020 - west around the airport, Prehistoric Trackways National Monument, Robledo Mountain Trails, Faulkner Canyon

Saturday, March 7th, 2020 - whatever we haven’t explored or want to see more of, could be Kilbourne and Hunts Craters

Some areas of interest that I’m researching:

Do we know what state of lockdown exists in NM right now? Like any indoor restaurant eating restrictions?

I also want to do a three day adventure ride in that area one day, maybe late spring / early summer or fall.

Such as:
Day 1 - ride road that roughly parallels I25 north of Las Cruces, east of Caballo and others to T or C, overnight
Day 2 - ride part of the BDR thru Chloride Canyon, then working over to Silver City, overnight
Day 3 - then work back to Las Cruces

As much dirt and rocks as possible, but ADV friendly, 650 class ADV...

Sounds like fun, though I'm solidly in the 1000cc adventure class now. No more DR. Still, the AT has upgraded suspension and handles quite nicely.

Camping or hotels?

Guessing the 390 Adventure could do that.
