Heard the song, said why not?

First was the Willow City Loop, a stretch of county road through private ranches where the wildflowers usually are prime. Seems lots of the ranchers don't like the wildflower traffic, so they are cutting the road edges before the flowers bloom. More's the pity.

The road, from TX highway 16:

After that, rode through Fredricksburg to Luchenbach.

Didn't see Willie or Waylon or the boys, but saw Hondo:

Also saw a couple of guys playing and singing:

After a stop in Blanco for some Bar B Que, came on to the house. A nice day for a ride, but should have used sunscreen.

here's the route:

For a Google Earth (Topeka Earth?) fly over of the route, go here: http://home.hiwaay.net/~george/Images/WillowCityLoop4-10.kmz

You'll probably have to save the file, then double-click it to open in Google Earth.

George - how many miles in this route?

Do they still have that store up on the main road that was called Uptown years back. Sold rocks that had " Turn me over" on one side and " Ahhhh that feels good" on the other. Wow, was thinking, that was near 15 years ago since I've been there. Was roaming about a flooded Texas on my R11GS.

Yep, Uptown is still there, as is the store. Can't say if they still sell the rocks, we were in the area a few weeks back and passed by it.

We also checked out Albert, the very small town (pop. 4) that was up for sale on eBay a few years back. Someone purchased it last year, and the ice house and dance hall remain, as well as the small school that LBJ went to for a year.

And Albert is named after Albert Luchenbach!

Cheers! M2
