Looking for Chicago Deep Dish Pizza-Austin

Being a native Chicagoan, I'm anticipating trying out any place suggested here.
Deep dish pizza is a "comfort food" for me.
Austin is a great town for food of almost all types. The only pizza I've there was Home Slice on S. Congress and IMHO, it was pretty awful. Tasted like Sbarro's mall pizza or something.
Thanks again for your suggestions.

I love Mangia's Carnivore Pizza. It's the Wednesday lunch special.

*whimper* Ain't no such thang around here... but thanks for another reason to visit Austin soon :trust:

I drive from San Antonio for a Conans deep dish whole wheat savage, minus anchovies every month. Three locations, south, UT, and North.

THE best pizza on the planet, been a customer since 1978.

I had Conan's last night (Artichoke Hearts, Spinach, Garlic & Sliced Tomatoes). :eat: I prefer thin and crispy crust, but no doubt Conan's is good stuff!

well, glad you enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to a Mangia's report too. I haven't tried there yet.

An almost exact duplicate of what my description would be...cept for the drivin from Waco part. Even the year matches !!! Used to like watchin the ever changin foot traffic along "The Drag" (Guadalupe)

SAVAGELY GOOD....The whole wheat thing

Comfort food in Texas is Chicken Fried Steak. Pizza is not on my list of comfort foods. BBQ is also comfort food.

That being said, anyone know of any great thin crust pizza places in Ft. Worth?

Best Pizza I ever ate was In Chicago and Walter Payton sat next to us. Great guy and great Pizza.

Ask Dahveed about that pizza place we went to. I thought it was pretty good but can't remember the name.
