SAN ANTONIO: Monthly Ride-to-Meat

Well, two of us showed to eat some meat. @Builtea arrived before me, I didn't leave New Braunfels until 11am due to some misty rain/fog. However, we had a good conversation and enjoyed the food. Afterwards, I rode a long way to Blanco as the afternoon weather was almost perfect.

Excellent! Nice rides. How was the chow?

Bill, finished his just as I arrived and judging from his clean plate I say he must have enjoyed it. I had a burger with fries and thought it was pretty good. Thanks for setting this up.

I will ride up there and check it out. Had a good time here with an old friend that I rode all over the place when we lived in Houston.

We are having a couple visit us next month on the 3rd weekend. I served with him at Ft Hood back in the mid-1980s. Any objection to moving the March ride for meat to the 22nd of that month?

You're the person graciously organizing these events so please do as you please.

9 days to go - check your calendar! BBQ in Wimberley on the 22nd.

Looks like the weather should be great. I am working on a couple of different routes to give me a nice ride up and back. I plan to be there, God willing and the creeks don't rise. - Bill

I'll be riding from New Braunfels; 306, 3424, cross 32, Mail Route rd, right on John Knox rd which becomes Wayside dr, turn right on River rd and restaurant will eventually be on the left side. A nice ride.

I'm fairly new to the area and I might be able to join on this one. How do these typically work out? Do you meet somewhere and ride out together or do we just meet at the BBQ place at a certain time?

Still not sure if I'll be able to make but there's a chance.

Most folk meet at the place around 11:30. If some live close together, they can arrange to ride there together. I live near La Vernia and meet riders who want to at a local store. The first post on this thread is updated each month to show the current planned ride.

Four of us gathered at JP's Wimberley BBQ today. I forgot to take pics of our chow - AGAIN! It was good, except the casing on the sausage was tough. Wimberley is a traffic jam. I won't be back.

Foot traffic was full force so guess who gets the right of way! Agree about the casing. Great day except for the cross winds for me going and coming. Thanks Stu

Happy to meet you and glad you got home safe. The wind was something to be reconned with!

A wonderful time and, for me since I came from the south, the ride was a good experience. Also, the turkey sandwich was delicious and lunchtime conversation was definitely enlightening.
