Bought an 09 DRZ400S from Humanrace two days ago. Want a better way to carry some extra fuel/water/food. My old Sedici tailbag did not make the cut today in Sam Houston National Forest.

Edit: I am searching for top and side racks with the ability to add rotopax mounts.

Probably the most comprehensive DRZ thread I've found ...

Eric Marquez or Doug Basinger are the experts on all things DRZ

I have the Pro Moto Billet on my DRZ400SM. Works great.

I appreciate everyone's input so far. I am searching for top and side racks with the ability to add rotopax mounts if possible. My primary goal is to easily and securely carry: 1-1.5 gallons of fuel, 0.5-1 gallons of drinking water, and a small/medium size bag or case for food, wallet, potential camping supplies.

Glad you are enjoying it. Colorado in May or June?

I have these...basically brand new, with the tool kit rack, that I'd sell. They offer a rotopax plate that you can add to it, I believe. https://www.happy-trail.com/find-your-bike/suzuki/drz400s-sm/klx400s-su-side-rack.html. The link for the rotopax adapter is https://www.happy-trail.com/find-your-bike/suzuki/drz400s-sm/kolpin-su-rack-adapter.html. I bought the rack, then sold the bike. Installed them, but never took a trip with them. Give me a call or text at two-1-four-three-56-nine-sixsixfour, if interested.

Thanks for all the help guys.

I went with this rack: https://www.dirtracks.com/collections/drz400s-sm/products/suzuki-drz400s-sm-rear-cargo-rack
and then ordered this bag, caught on sale for $42.50: https://wolfmanluggage.com/collecti...s/products/medium-rolie-bag?variant=578676373
and I'm going to try this bottle for fuel, stored in the bag: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00R1FKCJG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

With primarily off road riding, I suppose there is a chance that a fuel bottle being stored in the same bag as my water bottles/food could prove troublesome but I'm going to roll the dice and see what happens. I'm thinking that as long as I strap things down tight it wont be an issue.

Glad you are enjoying it. Colorado in May or June?

I may be able to. Can't make any plans quite that far out just yet. Would have to take the FJ09 on that trip. The DRZ had me walking bow legged after 100 miles the other day. Granted, 50 of them were in the forest moving at a brisk pace. I took your advice on purchasing that chain in the For Sale section. Will likely be taking your advice on a seat next.

The FJ09 is mostly ready go for long haul touring but, to date, I haven't ventured farther than a 200 mile radius from home.

Good cheap choice, I have had that same rack on my drzE for years with a ton of junk strapped to it in all kinds of off road conditions and terrain. No problems yet. I really like the rok straps as well- they’re the schnitzel.
