I've read the forums here for a long time from the shadows and come to you all hoping for some advice.

Does anyone know if one can park a motorcycle at IAH airport? I ride instead of drive everywhere else unless I need to take someone along with me who isn't bike friendly and would much prefer to ride to the airport than drive..

A few pictures of the bike in question:

Well, make sure your insurance is paid up and post up what spot it's in :trust: Nice looking bike.

Okay, kidding aside that's an excellent question. Are you going to be gone long? Or are you just picking somebody up?

I don't want to hijack your thread too much, but I'd be curious about experiences people have parking at any airport.

Hehe, insurance is definitely paid up but it would still kill me to see someone take her from me!

It would just be there from Friday afternoon until Sunday. I just don't know if they would tow it, turn me away at the garage or simply let it be. Most airports in the UK had free parking for motorcycles I was hoping to find a similar trick here!

Park at the terminal parking and just SQUEEEEZE past the gate when you get back! Kidding, I'd most likely just park in the terminal parking garage.

Do you have an Express parking there? We have it here at DFW. Its one step up from remote but not at the terminal, They pick you up at your car. That way the only ones that will go by you bike are people that are travailing and not just anyone will see it. Just a little safer.

I have parked at terminal before, and in a regular parking spot one day when I had to fly out unexpectedly on a day that I rode to work. I left it parked for 5 days and did not have any issues upon my return.

There is a designated motorcycle parking lot on the ground level of terminal B parking, but for the life of me I can't figure out how to get to it. You can see all the bikes parked there though. There is even a Motorcycle Parking "this way" sign that is real little just south of the exit on the main road. I am thinking that you turn in on a small "ramp" cut out of curb between the terminal parking exit and the employee parking entrance.

If you figure it out, will you please post up.

Hmm, I was hoping to park at terminal C, always find myself on Continental these days.

I pull between the gates at my office but don't think they would be so flexible about it at the airport... I'll look into that motorcycle parking at terminal B though, thanks for the tip!

I've seen a wing parked in one of the cheaper pay lots at IAH

I fly out of IAH at least 2 or 3 times a month. Most of my flights are Continental Express but for longer flights I am on grown up Continental. Anyway... I prefer the check in at B a WHOLE lot better than C, also there is ALWAYS parking at B... with the construction on C and them taking entire section for "Super Special Contract Parking", it is hard to find parking there.

Check in at the Continental desk in B and then take the interlink. Or better yet, just print your boarding pass before you go to the airport and go straight to the metal detectors...

Excellent to hear! I never really check in at the airport, just use those mobile boarding passes you can pull up on a blackberry. Can you get to Terminal C once you get through security at B or do you need to take the train over to C first?

I'll try and find that motorcycle parking at Terminal B tomorrow.. Here's to hoping!

Yeah... get through security in B and take the interlink tram (the above ground train) over to C, D or E. They have a bus you can take to get to A.

As you get though the security and your facing the food court go to your right and walk straight ahead and you will see the hallway leading to the elevated monorail train.

I hope I can find a way into that motorcycle parking at terminal B. Duke, you've parked in the regular car lot at terminal B I take it?

there is a trick to parking at IAH. There is a garage between A and B. You go past a and make a the u-turn and head back east on the south side of the terminal. Just be fore you get to term b there is a entrance to a parking garage. a bike can fit between the arm and the curb. Once in the lot go back to the left and you will see a area that a large amount of bikes park in. It mostly bikes belonginh to workers and police. i have parked there several times and no one has said anything or messed with the bikes. I have a few friends that work at iah and park there daily a few have let there bike ther for a week at a time. its covered parking and in a area safe from cars hitting your bike.

This is the answer I believe a few of us were looking for! Thanks Prothos. Sundays forecast doesn't look too good for the bag I had packed so I'll probably be taking my car :(

I'll give that a shot next weekend

Not specifically IAH (I fly out of DFW) but I park my bike there and fly out almost every week. I've never had an issue with the bike. I do cover her with a full cover (most of the time) and make sure that all my gizmos are in the trunk. It would bee cool if bikes had a reduced parking fee or something like that. I fly Continental or NWA so I park in the "E" ramp.

I've contemplated the Express option, but sure like having her under cover and out of the wind. Less worries. I love getting back and knowing that I get to ride home!

BTW, I have a toll thingie on the windshield so I can just go through the gates without a ticket or having to deal with payment on the pay out.

I parked my Goldwing at Terminal C at IAH for a three day trip recently with no problems. I just left it in a regular space. I did bring a cover and left it covered while I was gone. I find a cover will keep the curious finger prints off stuff. I'm sure I'll be doing again much more regularly since I now have new job assignment that requires much more travel.

There's also a small motorcycle parking area right before the one with the gate arm that I park in every day for work. Right after you pass the passenger pickup for terminal A, there's an exit from the employee parking lot, and it has a sign for motorcycle parking, and then a little thing that looks like a walkway. that whole area is motorcycle parking... And i'm sure it's public + employee, but I came in yesterday, and i saw a few "PARKING NOTICE" yellow papers sticking out of various places on some bikes that didnt have an employee parking sticker.. so i'm not sure about that..

i'll try and get some snapshots on monday on the way into work if i can remember...

I've paid for parking at C several times on my wing with no problems. If you don't mind transfering from one terminal to another, B has free designated parking for motorcycles. Give yourself an extra 15 minutes when you go the first time so that you can find the entrance. It is on the backside (south) and marked somewhat poorly.

Well I have good news and bad news. I called IAH parking to confirm it was alright for a motorcycle to park there and the woman on the line very angrily declared no motorcycles were allowed to park ANYWHERE at IAH. I typically arrive at the airport around 45 minutes before my flight and couldn't leave work early so I decided not to risk it taking my car...

I drove once around terminals A+B and there is now a clearly marked motorcycle parking area as some of you have said. I will take pictures of it when I get back on Sunday and post them up for all to see. I'm flying out next weekend as well and will give it a shot! I just find it a bit silly to pay $15/day to park a motorcycle when cars pay the same rate.

FINALLY, here we go.

Motorcycle (free!) Parking at IAH.

As described earlier, in order to get to it you have to head to terminals A/B, follow the road past terminal A until it loops around. As soon as you get past terminal A look for the turn-in on the left. I've done my best with the following pictures:

Entrance. I saw a truck parked blocking this entrance once... I suppose duck the gates nearby if that is the case.

Now, there were a bunch more bikes parked on the way to the terminal (walk towards terminal B to enter the building) in the oversize vehicles lot but I assume these are all employees and were ducking through the gates. While it is a little closer than the designated motorcycle spots, as a non-employee I'd rather use the official lot than risk coming back finding your bike towed.

Great job on the write up and pics! Nice bike too! I like to blue valve covers on the oil heads.

now i know that a lot of continental's employees park in that second area ducking gates like you said, and i park in that parkinglot you posted..

and theres a sign on the structure stating it's contract parking only, so keep that in mind.. but it should be open use...

Great directions, thank you. Do you have a chase vehicle bring the luggage?

So can you park in this special area or is there still a risk of tow without a special parking pass? Thanks.
