Post your Day Rides Here!

Six of us took a Short ride to East Bay American Motorcycles in Ennis today. It’s so nice to be retired!!!
I thought MY garage was full of stuff! If you need a part for an old Harley, this is where to get it. At least as long as he’s open...
Then Dave took us on a twisty ride to a local BBQ joint. Weather was perfect and all the sights were impressive! All had a good time, BUT we lost Norton John on the way home?
Oh btw, if you haven’t been on 287 between Sardis and Midlothian recently, DONT! Road destruction in full swing and it’s more parking lot than highway.

Big loop out west of george West down to Freer, San Diego area. Say hello to my little friend. Was 91⁰ and he was ready to dance. I didn't get closer, saw him with a 10th of a mile stretched across the gravel.

Not much has come out yet down here in brush county. Found a little lunch shade, old San Diego road. Only one truck came across out here, no traffic out here.IMG_20210315_162940788.jpg

No pictures, none, nada but it did happen! Thursday I left the RGV on my PPSS Limited Edition VStrom. Stopped at the wet back check station to visit the plastic latrine. Came out enjoying the crisp early morning air, some low life lifted my Buell Jacket. OK I'M MEDICATED FOR THESE TYPE OF THINGS. Dug thru my crap put on everything I had with me and Carried On. Stopped in Robstown to top off, my favorite station was gone. OK NO PROBLEM I'LL GO TO REFURIO. Somewhere between the two the wind picks up(insert gail force winds).Get to East Texas stop at my bros place shooting the breeze, mention to him I thought I'd check out AF1 racing out in Austin and look at a V85TT Guzzi. After he was able get up off the ground and had stopped laughing. He wondered what I was going to do with V Strom.Told him my plans, he told me he wanted it. Cut to the chase paper exchanged hands. Then🤯 I don't have a way back home! Easy peasy rent a car, no one way rentals to deep South Texas🤬.
So today Saturday my BRO'S giving me a ride back to La Casa and pick up the spare parts that I have for the Dl.
Another great road trip in the books. Sure am going to miss that jacket.
Carry On

There’s a lot of energy in your writing. Well done, thanks for posting.

Got out today for a nice ride. Not a lot blue bonnets out to the north and east of Spring. Went north exploring and rode down some tiny no lane markings county roads up in Walker County. Ended up in Crockett for lunch at everyone’s favorite, the Moosehead Cafe. Today’s special was catfish, fries, hush puppies, slaw, and pickled green tomatoes.

Coconut cream pie for dessert.

Came back home via 21 to Midway then south and east by Casa Friday on 980. Then 45 to the house. All in all a good day.

I headed over to Cameron on Sunday for some taqueria breakfast. When a passing train was blocking my southbound exit I decided to take a slight detour around the sleepy town square.
One of the great courthouses - nice shot as well.

Sunday was a glorious day to ride. I did my little 45 mile loop from SW Austin into Hays CO and out to Dripping Springs and home via Fitzhugh Road, and saw a lot of folks on two wheels and open-top convertibles. Good day for sure.

Is there a good Mexican food restaurant in Cameron?
Juanes Mexican is my go to $4.99 Cameron breakfast. Always busy but never a wait. No experience with any other restaurants there.

My 170 mile loop from Austin included Georgetown, Weir, Walburg, Bartlet, Davilla and Buckholts and Yarrelton going over. Coming back thru San Gabriel, Hare and Granger Lake.

A day late posting this....but...
Tuesdays ride to Lampasas for lunch at Youngs BBQ was a good one. We looped around the CRs thru Lake Victor before eatin.
On the homeward loop...we passed thru Pearl &.....as many times as Ive been down this road.....the old rusting threasher sittin in the pasture never even registered a semblance......until the other day....

Seriously?

I saw that the first time you took me past it. Never mentioned it because I thought it was so obvious.

The Game I Play

I’ve been a Harley guy for a long, long time. I love a good road trip. I’m a high mileage guy. I road up north of the Arctic Circle, The PCH, you know the story. I recently have gotten interested in the Trans American Trail and dual sport riding. I joined this forum (and a KLR forum) and bought a bike. I haven’t done any off road riding since I was 14 or 15, that was a while back. Last weekend I rode out to The Red River Motorcycle Trails and met up with some legit dirt bike riding friends. Here are my thoughts on the weekend’s events:
1. I’ve read a lot about how the KLR isn’t GREAT at anything, but can do everything. What I’ve found is the KLR is capable of doing more than I can. The machine was up to everything I tried. I was not!
2. My friends said they suspected we went through territory that would probably match anything I would encounter on the TAT . They’ve spent a lot of time riding in Colorado and are familiar with the area it passes through. Judging by the videos I’ve watched, I believe that to be true. I was challenged, but it was doable.
3. There isn’t as much interaction between the different subsets of motorcycle riders as there should be. Sport bikes, cruisers, dirt bikes, and scooters all share the same wind. We should share our stories and good times as well. I understand that we give one another grief about our bikes, but I honestly don’t care what you ride, I just hope it’s the bike you want.
4. I only fell down twice. Once in deep sand (I got better with practice) and once getting high centered going up a hill (that one hurt). I cracked the right side cover, bent a rear view and hurt my pride a little, but my friends said I got my “dirt cred” with them!
5. I’m not sure if I’ll keep the bike after the TAT or not. There’s lots of other adventures awaiting and I want different bikes. I’m down to 8 motorcycles now, and would like to get to 3. The new Honda CT125???
