You prefer them over MacKenzie's?
Definitely, at least the one here in Huntsville. They were much better when they were in their original location. After they moved to the current location, quality has been hit and miss for years. Our local HEB has a great BBQ place in the store. We get brisket and turkey there all the time.

Just got back from dual sporting the back roads in and around the Shiner area. Started in Shiner and wound up a few miles north of Waelder, then back through Moulton and back to Shiner for a sack lunch at the park. After that I ended up west of Yoakum then made my way back to Shiner. 152 miles total with about 70% gravel, 25% one lane paved and a very small portion on the highway. I don’t chart a course or track where I’ve been. I just head out on the closest gravel road and take it to the next gravel road. I must say that the D606/MT21 tire combo is amazing on the little XT. I’ve made this trip several times and it puts a smile on my face each trip.

You were in my neck of the woods .

Oh yes. Gonzales county actually has great Gravel roads. Most are packed well and with smaller gravel sizes to easier to ride. We actually have a farm in Shiner that I use as base

You were right in my stomping grounds, just live down the road from Mission Valley a few miles. 530 is definitely better than 59! Then from Hallettsville 318 down to Yoakum is not bad, hit 682 over to 1447 and take that down to Cuero. Kind of a round about route but decent roads. I have not stopped at the bridge in the photo, need to check it out I guess.

Yes were definitely in my backyard. I’m just on the Cuero side of Mission Valley.

Not much of an exciting ride but a ride is better than no ride. Left the house about 11:30am and headed to the Roadhouse in Paige. Only got on the highway for short jaunts, otherwise kept it at or below 40 mph a good portion of the time. I did get to smell pine trees (in Bastrop Co near McDade and Paige). I did find some dirt and because of rain 36 hours before there was very little dust.

Since my day trip to see the sisters I had not got out much. Rode the bike to see the Cannonball bikes and that 16 miles round trip did somehow turn into 60 but other than that a couple of 25-30 mile evening loops. Looking at the weather this weekend decide last night might be about my only chance this weekend to ride so ran one of the 100 mile loops I had been wanting to do. Nothing to exciting but good to get out and see what is going on and just ride. Did not get taken off until 5:30 and was just getting to deer thirty when I got home 1:45 later.

A few images in no particular order. Looked like rain and radar showed some. I did not get rained on at all but did ride wet roads where the rain had been shortly before I got there. Just tried to ride under those holes in the clouds when I could. ;-) Actually was really nice weather once I got going.

Stopped and shot this image as I liked how the cloud was sitting in front of the setting sun.

Then as I was getting ready to move on noticed the tranquility of what was behind the bike and all of the blue sky.

Was planning on all blacktop due to the recent weather and late day ride. But it turns out I kind of ran out of blacktop on one of the roads I thought went through. Had two choices I could take, well three if you count backtracking, so took the road less traveled. It was only 3 miles of gravel but was in great shape, soft but not muddy. I like these little roads and had not ridden this one.

Overall a good ride and good weather that I could have missed, glad I went.

I think I need a new weather app. Got some maintenance stuff done this morning and shortened the honey do list a bit. The wife said she was going to town for a little bit so I decided to hit the road for another ride. Had another 100 mile loop I wanted to try so ran it. Ended up 108 miles and 2 hours of fun.

Not many photos as I was mainly trying to tie roads together that I have already ridden. I did hit a couple of new connecting roads that I thought were interesting. The one below was open range and the heifer who was getting a drink was not sure what to think of my intrusion.

Then I took this road which I was not sure of. Turned out to be a nice road with little traffic that flowed fairly well.

Headed down another one that is like many roads in this are when you get near the river. Turn, dip, and another turn. It was also a good road with no traffic and fairly smooth. A lot of the little blacktops around here are about solid patches and pretty rough.

And I even beat the wife back home.

Rode to Austin from Santa Fe to watch MotoGP. Made it in time to catch all 3 races. I’ve been a band wagon Marc Marquez all season so I got the hat and watched him win. Picked up some t-shirts for the family since they couldn’t come.
