Post your Day Rides Here!

Last weekend when the wife and I went for a ride I noticed some roads I had not checked out previuosly. So yesterday decided to go for a spin and take a look. Nothing very exciting and no great photos, but did get in around 125 miles.

The BEST roads are the ones where you have a GREAT time, without exceeding speed limits.

Texas actually has LOTS of that kind of roads, you just need to know where to find 'em!

@AllByteNoBark I got to say, you have an awesome garage!!

Scott that's is Limestone Electric Generation Station LEGS it sets on portions of three counties . I spent lot of time there during outage seasons.

Thanks, I feel blessed to have the bikes I have. Just wish I could ride a bit more and am working on that. The 390 is not being used much, I really like it and it is a great bike, but where I live it seems one of the others is always a better fit for whatever ride I am heading out on. Probably should put it up for sale but really hate to sell it.

Ran some SHNF roads today. After 2 to 4 inches of rain they were still great shape. There was 1 spot covered in water with a big leaning tree right pass it!
Eastside trails haven't opened yet but wasn't enough rain to close Westside, sand be gone for a while.
While out there I bumped into @GSTJOHN and his new SHERCO 500. Very nice.

Finally got a free Saturday and nice weather. I had looked over the Flatonia tracks that were posted here earlier and then Steve posted his tracks for the Luling event coming up. Well I decided to go check some of the area out and kind of combined those and then did some snooping around also. Ended up with 307 miles for the day. Not sure exactly whose tracks I was on when I took any of the photos but thanks for posting them.

I did not leave until around 9:30 as I made a few changes to the 450 before heading out. The first hour or so was stuff I have ridden before. Stopped about 11:30 and ate a bite of lunch from the tail bag in this nice shady location.

The route was quite diverse. I enjoy these nice serene pasture scenes.

This county road was a bit of a surprise, looked more like a driveway, but had an old sign there that said it was a county road. Would not want to fall on any of the huge ant hills, they might carry you away. There were several of them on the road.

Stopped to hydrate several times. Lot's of nice shady spots.

Had an intruder at this one.

Some green tunnels.

The one above led to this bridge.

Cool sign on the bridge.

Then back out into more open country with good views.

And finally back home. Great weather and a good ride seeing some new to me country.

We FINALLY made it out to the Hidden Falls Adventure Park and pretty quickly realized we were out of our league.

Still, we enjoyed about 3 hours of bone-tiring fun on the Suzuki DR350S and Honda CR250R. Alex managed just fine on both bikes, the Honda is just too dang TALL for me!

The spot where this photo was taken (below) is some of the SMOOTHEST terrain. This place is ROUGH.

I guess we're softies. My excuse is that I'm '67. Alex's excuse is that he's only just started riding full-size bikes a few months ago, and only has one finger on his left hand. Truth be told, I dropped bikes more than he did. (less than 3 times each)

old Bryant station bridge , and area around Cameron Texas

I've been blessed with a loaner Husky 350. Got in 30 miles of single track at Cycleland. Been a while since able to do that. Really figuring out how bad a 450 mx bike was for woods riding. Night and day difference. Plusher suspension, better turning, and not near as brutal hit.

My daughter and I did 120 miles on the Silverwing today. Lunch was pizza at Studebaker's Pizza in Gatesville. This was by far the longest she has ridden, and she loved every minute of it! Even did probably 15 20 miles of gravel lol. Probably 90% or more of the ride was on county roads which in Coryell County are absolutely beautiful. She's never liked any other bikes I've owned but for some reason she loves the SW.

It was brisk at 54* and windy. But it's been several weeks since I rode the 850, so off I went. Caught up with a foreign by accident we rode a good bit before I had to go home! We've ridden the trails together, 1st gravel ride.

The sunshine and temps today were really nice. I rode east and had lunch at Millies on main in Elgin.

IMG_2732.jpg

A really cool little place that was a service station most of my life.

IMG_2733.jpg

The barria tacos were excellent. I am not sure what kind of soup that is, but it was also very very good. The margarita was pretty good too.

IMG_2738.jpg

I rode back home via Taylor and stopped off at the John Deere dealership I spent so much time at as a kid. That 9R makes the 4840 I used to drive look like a toy and it wasn't.

I suppose if someone was twisting my arm to join them in those circumstances, they'd never get to the point of it causing me the least discomfort before I submitted...

Did 27 miles in SHNF solo today. Little sloppy in spots but otherwise pretty perfect. Did the string out and back to ride the balloon loop. Enough for an old guy. Whoops never end.

I enjoyed a nice 145 mile loop ride last weekend. The Guadalupe river in Starke Park, Seguin is flowing slow, but still going. There is an old power plant across the dam in the pic which is now a restaurant called The Powerplant Texas Grill (haven't eaten there, yet). The flood markers on a nearby building shows the water levels during different significant flood events. The last pic is my stopover at the new recreational pond in Stockdale, Tx. Apparently it is stocked with fish as I usually see people fishing there.

I rounded up as many of the locals as possible yesterday...for a ride up to Goat Neck on the Brazos. Weather was great...if a bit chilly at the start. I hadta adjust our route several times due to not having ridden that area for quite a while. Bunches of intersections with similar CR #s..but overall...a good day to ride

CR1108 along the edge of the Brazos is always a +++ ...kinda like CR223 along the Lampasas River down by Oakalla...in a way

This stop was on CR1120 near Morgan

Couple of weeks ago but last ride we did. Rode up to Laguna Park on the Road King and had lunch at Shooky's On The Lake. What an awesome spot and would make a good group ride destination.
