Post your Day Rides Here!

That the 500? Happy with it for that type riding?
2021 FE501S

Very happy with it. It was going to be my all purpose adventure bike but the 500 motor just vibrates too much for that. But when the going gets tough, it's an incredible bike. Love it for exploring anywhere and it's great for multi day trips. I just don't want to do multi day trips for weeks at a time or if it's easy terrain on it. When the terrain is rough, the vibes are not noticeable because there is too much concentration on picking lines, not missing corners, etc.

I purchased new April of 21 and just rolled over the 15k mile mark on it this trip with 386 hours. Valves have never gone out of adjustment. The only mechanical issue so far has been the clutch. The stock clutch is the same in the 250-500 and has been known to slip on the 500. Too much torque and not helped by uncorking it (FMF Q4 and Dobeck EJK piggyback tuner on mine). Put a Hinson Racing clutch set up in it along with a Rekluse clutch slave cylinder and problems eliminated. I knew it was having concerns in Colorado on some of the longer hill climbs (clutch fade at the lever) but let it cool a few and it was back to normal. It wasn't a big issue until running the open flats across Oklahoma on that trip. Anything over 85mph was causing slip and I was running hotter than that for miles at a time. Boiled the clutch slave and it quit modulating completely so I limped into the closet town, bought new brake fluid then went across the street and bled the clutch system in the carwash. Fixed the immediate issue and good to go the rest of the trip just being mindful to stay under 85mph and take it easy of how hard I twisted the throttle. Other than that the only other problem has been keeping fresh tires on it as I tend to burn them pretty quick on this bike. I can't help myself and power slide too much so not the bikes fault. It's just the enabler.

Little late afternoon forest ride. Everyone gone.

I was in Bastrop yesterday (looking at a bike for sale, of course) and took the opportunity to ride Park Road 1C from Bastrop to Buescher. Lovely road, wish it was longer!

I forgot my park pass but a super nice guy on a H-D Road Glide (2023?) let me use his pass. Yesterday morning was lovely but it got toasty in the afternoon.

Our perennial favorite , 1C; camped there a dozen times, rode out at least a dozen other times...

My cousin lost his brand new huge house there, in the big fire a few years back...

Little 150 mile jaunt around Grimes and Walker counties. Checked out the infamous Shiro mudpit, first time I've seen it semi-dry! There 4 or 5 mudholes in this stretch, this one is usually the worst. Hard to tell in photo but when full of water, the wrong line could spell disaster!

My experience with mud holes is, sometimes disaster will strike even with a little water.

That washout is spooky, 12-15 foot drop both sides. Yesterday on the 650 I hit it with some apprehension. But forgot picture, went back today on 850, started down the slope to the narrow path, nope, not happening! The subdivision entrance is where the offroad park, Sterling Ranch, used to be. Progress, yuk.

Got out for a day ride yesterday with a couple friends.

They like to trailer little bikes to where we ride in the LBJ Grasslands area. It's crazy how many of the gravel roads are now blacktop.

I rode my T7 from the house and did some speed wobble testing on the way to meet them.

Nace had his 82nd birthday a couple days ago and would be riding his SL350. The original @SL350 Mike would be riding Nace's old DRZ that he has owned for many years.

It was too early for lunch so after a quick stop for a stretch off we went.

After lunch we did some wandering and made a stop to check out Eagles Canyon Raceway. It looked like they were gearing up for a weekend event. The weather forecast doesn't look promising for them.

But wait there's more...

On the way home I "took a wrong turn at Albuquerque". LOL

We had a great day together with beautiful fall weather. We logged 130 miles on the ride and the old SL350 ran perfect all day. I had right at 200 miles for the day.

It was a nice way to spend with an Autumn day wandering LBJ Grasslands. Nace let me ride his SL350 for a bit and it was perfectly tuned and just right for the winding roads and gravel in the area. We had a chicken fried steak at Greenwood thanks to Rich and also visited the Eagle's Canyon racetrack where bikes were on the track.

Great day and great friends. @Simmons1

Did I forget to mention the ride started off looking back at Rich, adjusting the right mirror account for bringing the handlebars back an inch, only to have the mirror break and fall into my throttle hand? Haha, I really did want a new set of mirrors!

Took a CHANCE on a mud park for dirt bike riding. I knew with the drought it'd be dry but wasn't sure what we'd find. They're closed during the week but let us come play, nice! Pretty boring other than I got to ride my bike. There was the Rock Wall, for us that was a no. I saw pain written all over it. Bike is my buddies 450 Sherco.
