Post your Day Rides Here!

Saturday, rode to The Switch in Cool, TX for breakfast. Great temps. Always good to get the 32 year old out.

No other bikes................hmmmmm ;-)

Got out Saturday for some Tour of Honor pictures. Conroe and Huntsville UH-1’s and a doughboy in Lufkin. On the advice of a friend, I stopped in at the Angelina County Airport Cafe. I highly recommend the cheeseburger. Worth the stop.

The cheeseburger and chips (I drank water) was $5.88. Even the KLR guys would think this is a good deal. :trust:

Was in DFW this week for work and decided to take the Avoid Highways navigation option back toward San Antonio, for as long as I could afford the time.

Here are a couple of things I found.

Good Lord Almighty, it’s HOT. Got up early and got out to get another Tour of Honor site and a courthouse or two.

Coming back on I-10 just west of Columbus and found a parking lot. Bailed off to 90 to 71 business to FM 109 to 36 to Brenham. Taking shelter in Starbucks to get out of the heat.

Yes I’m drinking hot coffee. Along with a lot of water from my camel back.
Beats working.

Got a little ride in on my new motor. The old motor spun a lower rod bearing last week on a ride.

Went for a ride today with my son, we made a loop from the house. We stopped at JMZ’s place to snap pic to send him since he was working. I happened to notice Colton’s front tire low so we grabbed some air and headed for the house. We made it home before it went flat again. I’m glad he is old enough to bust his own tires.

Took a quick loop around tawakoni Sunday morning using county roads and saw this. Pretty neat. Was flowing water too but may have been decorative

Did a quick morning sprint up to the Red River. 70 degree temps and low humidity felt amazing. Had breakfast at the river.

Sucks people cant treat what few free public areas that we have in Texas with some respect. GS is running great and the megaphone can sounds better than the straight can I took off a few days ago.

That pipe looks great and sure it sounds sweet. The litter is awful, it seems to be that way everywhere. :( People are what they throw out the window.
Thanks for the ride report

Rode to check out closed down Lignite mine and power plant. saw no Bit Coin construction activity. Did see huge pile of metal from wrecking out smelters. Just rode in, no security no problems . The one Picture is the end of the conveyor that extends from Rockdale to almost Elgin Butler area. All the parking lots have weeds. Superman once took a piece of coal or was it lignite and squeezed it in his hand so hard that it became a diamond. Nothing resembles anything shiny out at old Alcoa plant. Just rusting metal and all it is.... "is black lignite dust in the wind." :jammin::drums:

Let me tell you about a remote Texas road north of Del Rio which provides ample views of swaying native grasses, overflowing rivers and a serpentine road that will keep you on your riding toes. The road is called Old Juno Road. My route follows a series of rural two-lane roads. To access this road go west from Sonora a few miles and then exit CR1989 on IH10. The road will change names several times but keep heading south as it will eventually turn into Old Juno Road.

The river has started to recede

Be sure to pay attention to all warning signs as this route travels along roads which are used for various ranching and oilfield activities. In some places, sharp and blind curves will be encountered. You will be crossing cattle guards along this route, which means that ranch stock may occasionally be on the roadway. Please drive with courtesy and caution.

The past several weeks, this portion of Texas has received significant rain and so the views were outstanding. You can continue all the way to Comstock after completing Old Juno Road. At this point you have several options. I chose to take CR674 back to Rocksprings, Texas.

That was the first thing I was thinking, that does not look like normal burned up West Texas.

Suddenly everything's green in the hill country and everywhere.

Nice pics, thanks

Hi Brian,

You bring up an important point. I like to occasionally check the US drought monitor page. You basically avoid a portion of a state that has light or dark red areas in order to experience optimal riding conditions. Right now, West Texas looks outstanding from a precipitation point of view. Arkansas ain't lookin' too bad either.

...now the four corners area looks horrific going out about 400 miles in all directions.

:eek2:

The site also provides the added functionality to use a slider tool to compare a previous time frame so....if you want to answer the question, when was the last time Colorado was out of a drought watch, you have an instant answer.
