Got out today on the 1200 GS with my son, Daniel. The weather was perfect! We did about 170 miles or so, just a nice big wandering loop. The dirt roads were damp with a few muddy spots, but otherwise fantastic. We headed East over toward lake Livingston, ran around in the SHNF, eventually crossing I-45 at New Waverly and headed West through Montgomery, Richards, Roans Prairie, Iola, back down to Yankee’s Tavern at Carlos, and then high tailed it down a bunch of dirt roads back to Huntsville.
As expected, Yankee’s was packed! All manner of bikes were present. I got front row parking in front of the Harley Parking Only sign, my favorite spot
we grabbed some lemonade and walked around to check out the rides. Here are a few pics.
Do you see Daniel?
A custom paint job. My wife's favorite color!
The back half of this dude is on the other side of the screen... Not sure what the story is on this.
Sign on the side of the trailer said, "Win this bike!"... No thanks.
Bad pic of a beautiful bike!
I should have gotten a good full size pic of this bike, but it was in a crowded spot. It is a V-Rod. It had a lot of neat accents. Not sure if it is a true custom or factory custom. Daniel thought it was pretty cool.
Not my color, but these matching bikes REALLY lit up in the sun! Fantastic paint jobs!
If it isn't loud pipes, it's LOUD music... or both
Daniel got a kick out of the filler cap right by the seat... a Gatorade bottle cap with a napkin under it to make it fit tight. There was oil all over the body work behind the engine. The rear fender and bags almost scrape the ground, maybe 3/4" - 1" clearance at best. That is a 27" wheel up front!
This bike was kind of neat just from a quality of painting/finish perspective. The pic does it poor justice because it had a HARSH back light from the sun and I was using my iPhone. The red accents were really deep and pretty.
Another great day on the bike. I wish I got more of them, but I'll take what I can get
