Post your Day Rides Here!

Got out on my 690 yesterday. Took the SuperSlab from Crowley to Grandview and then hit the county roads over to Corsicana and back for a 238 mile loop. Pretty much a SuperMoto ride as it was a constant mix of unmaintained asphalt and gravel thru Ellis and Navarro Counties. The route was mostly a copy of the Heart of Texas Adventure route segment on the way over and I connected the dots with some roads just south on the way back. Good times!!
You passed by my house. Let me know if you ever head out that way again and want some company.

I have a very small track through my property, maybe 1/2 mile. It’s fun flat and fast. Aspr can lap me in three. Stromxtc came and made a pass on my buddy’s 250 and seemed to be smiling. So I got the idea to cut some single track following the cow trails through the brush.

Today I went at it with my xr650l and was doing pretty good. The single track is pretty much 1st gear with clutch and throttle. No elevation just technical trying to follow the trail. Four or five laps and I said to myself “break time”. But why take the easy way to the house and get water? Let’s go through the path even if I’ve told myself I’m beat.

Now I had to do a slow motion get off as I crashed into a prickly bush. The deepish trail was to my left so rather than risking an ankle injury I launched and landed in the soft cactus to the left.
I just relaxed for a minute or 4 on the ground to catch my breath until I smelled the gas leaking out of the xrl. Got up, stood her up and rode to the house to drink some water.
Good times , I’ll try it again tomorrow and see if I can make 8 laps:rider:

Sounds like your getting some good cardio too👍

I'll be in New Braunfels in May. Maybe I can sneak away for a little bit and come down there.

Got out yesterday for an all day ride and rode the old Redneck Ramble route. It was pretty much the exact route with the exceptions of a detour to Hillsboro for lunch and I skipped the Hwy 67 part between Cleburne and Grandview. I jumped on the Chisholm Trail to expedite my return back to Crowley. Started at around 10:00 and was home by 6:00. Only stops being for gas and the aforementioned lunch. All roads were in great shape. A couple were freshly graded with new, thick gravel which was a bit tricky. Also, everything was mostly dry---not much mud. Additionally, I forgot to mark it so I can't remember the exact location, but on CR4113 there was a culvert washed out on the right side of the road if you are traveling from east to west. Big hole in the road!! CR4113 is north of Itasca and runs back to 171.

Always enjoy when a rider posts a town sign. I go straight to giggle maps and see where it’s at.

I just did an easy 150 miler to run my bike before doing a motor oil and diff oil change. Still a nice ride and I found a back way to seguin.

Here are a few other shots taken with a different camera. The one's in the previous post were taken with my phone.

We spotted the bus down in the woods off of FM 1696 heading out toward Bedias. Someone tried real hard to get that thing out of there, but it was sunk up to the axles and going nowhere...

On the South side of Iola, we found the patch of Blue Bonnets that also had the white versions! Sarah found a spot where someone else had already sat in the flowers so she was able to get in there without trampling any of them.

It's been since around early January that she last got to ride with me, so it was fun to get out and spend some time with her. The weather was fantastic!

Sunday we took the RT over to the Lake within the Kingdom of Possum. Stopped at one of the parks for a little walk around and potty break, nice facilitates.

Everyone was out enjoying the weather in their sweet rides.

Had lunch at Jamies German Food on 180 just as you enter Mineral Wells coming from Palo Pinto.
I can recommend this place, very good food, the service was great and the people, wow they were bringing us different things to try.

We ordered a dessert to go and while we were enjoying it the waiter delivered a second and said we need the other half.

OMG.....Black Forest with Cherry, chocolate sauce and wiped cream....

"On the South side of Iola, we found the patch of Blue Bonnets that also had the white versions! " Those are the first white ones I have seen outside of a small patch near Bowie, Texas. (South Side of US287)

Had some time to kill between work and William's soccer practice.

I do some ranch work for an old timer on some weekends for riding money, I just so happened to have to pass by the big ranch on my way to soccer practice so I stopped by and went for a ride.

Chores are done and weather was perfect this morning for a ride. I took the dirt backroads to Poth and got a fajita taco just after the breakfast crowd and before the lunch crowd. Had I not eaten there before, I might have worried that the waitress/cook/cashier and I were the only 2 people in the building. Homemade tortillas and tender fajitas are a good thing.

So headed over to the community of Dewees where there was road construction on FM541. I turned north and then took the first dirt road I found which was less than 2 miles away. found some enjoyable roads like this

231395

Loose gravel can get pretty interesting on the freshly graded parts. The roads made big connecting squares around the farms and ranches.

231396

From gravel to dirt to pretty loose sand kept my attention level up. Found a very interesting metal bridge. Most are grates but this was basically a pipe cattle guard over a creek. I bet it’s slippery when wet, and no side rails!

231398

I made it over to Pleasanton for fuel then back tracked hitting different roads in the same area. The sky started getting darker so with no rain gear I headed for the house.

231399

I did have to stop and take one more photo. Appears this rancher knows someone at TXDOT. This guard rail fence goes on into the brush farther than I could see. Good to have friends.

231400

All in all a great 130 mile day on the bike. I’ll have to get aspr to come along with his gps so we can make a ride route to post for the dirt riders.
