You are welcome, and thanks for riding up to join in! A little wet before KSU, but it turned out to be great riding conditions.

A great ride to start the year!

We'll get out as much as we can once the weather decides to play along again!

A chilly ride to breakfast with the AZ Beemers club. We left from Apache Junction, rode through Superior and Miami, then headed north alongside Roosevelt Lake until we reached the restaurant at the marina. Passing through Top Of The World east of Superior I saw 34 degrees but it warmed up to 47 by the time we got to the restaurant at 11.

After lunch it was about 51 degrees and then I saw 55 by the time I got home at 2:30. It was an uneventful ride and I enjoyed meeting some new folks.

The Klim guys may have actually beat us out but they're mostly in the back row.

The guy two spots over with the matching Stich is Steve. Steve happens to be married to Olga. Olga used to ride with us on TWT rides years ago when I lived in The Woodlands. She wasn't with us today because she was driving up to their other place in Telluride to go skiing. Steve doesn't ski so he'll go up in Feb. They will stay up there till about March and then return to their main home in Paradise Valley (look it up) down here. Then when it starts getting warm down here they go back to Telluride and they ride the Colorado roads almost every day until it cools off down here and then they repeat the process.

Tough life. ;-)

"I took a ride through this beautiful world
and felt the sun upon my shoulders
Sha-La-La-La"
(fractured from the Anthony Bourdain TV series)

Weather man promised a couple of nice days this week and he wasn't wrong.
Made a run down to Central Texas and rode all the 500 FM roads in the area of Comanche, Brady, Mason and Llano. (500, 502, 580, 581, 586, 590, etc...)
Weather was terrific. Mid 70's on Tuesday and low 70's on Wednesday. Plenty of blue sky and very light traffic made for a fun ride.
Brown bagged every meal except Tuesday evening.
Surprising how much area you can cover when you're out on your own.
Got carried away while out near Mason and lost track of time. Till the shadows started to lengthen and the sun was setting below the trees. The Bambies were getting active and I was still West of Mason and about 45 minutes from the hotel in Llano. Yikes!
Made to Llano safe n sound with no scary moments. Slept great and had a wonderful ride home today.
More to come this year. So check your tires. Check your brake pads. And pay down the limit on your CCard and let's go exploring!

This "cabin" is outside Brownwood near a State Correctional facility.
Even though it's behind a State Historical Marker with a paved pull out, there are no signs saying Keep Out or No Trespassing, and there's a gap in that little split-rail fence with a well worn path to the cabin.... it's on prison property and they don't want you in there taking pictures.
I did and got a dual, black SUV, prison guard response confronting me with all kinds of questions and accusations.
The area "landscaping" is maintained by the inmates and I was accused of hiding "contraband" for them.
I had a back-n-forth conversation with the bully "bad cop" about no signs or notices and if they didn't want anyone in there, why did they make it look like a photo op/ tourist trap behind a historical marker.
As the bully strutted off to kick around in the grass for "contraband" the "good cop" politely asked if I had any weapons on my person or my bike.
"None of your business" response got a "You're on prison property and no weapons are allowed."
"Well, we're not on prison property ( not marked) we're in the State Hwy right-of-way and I'm leaving now. And by the way... put up some Keep Out signs."
Have a nice day sir.

My suggestion. Don't stop to take pictures of this cabin. It's not real anyway. It was built by the inmates just for decoration.

The skinny low water xing on East/West Middle Bosque Rd near Mosheim/Prairie Chapel has been taken out.
My guess is ....a bridge will take its place since more houses are goin up out in that area.

That is some of my old stomping grounds! Great place to ride.

Mountainbiking in Hobbs Park, off Rambo road today…
pics 1-5) Karch trail from South trailhead, counterclockwise up to Huckleberry..
pic 6) gravel guy found some gravel near Beaver! So lovely today…
pic 7) poor penmanship….😂😂
5 miles pedaled today, I need better (lighter) winter clothes to be able to go further.
The snow prevents coasting on downhills, which kills your momentum for the upcoming climb.
Traction was good, as the ground has not frozen yet.
I’ll get better!

Hi Mudclod!

Do you have any tracks or suggestions for county roads to ride in the North Fort Hood, Ogelsby area? I see a lot of dirt in those pics :-) I ride out of Lampasas a lot and have been looking to expand the area from there.

Thanks!
Hello Dan. No tracks but here are a few dirt gems in the area.
