Front fork rebuild, the forks had not had the fluid changed, or had any service for 30 years. I am doing a brake up grade, and needed to do it right. Here are some photos of the bike hanging from the ceiling, and before and after photos.

Did you upgrade the springs to progressive or anything?
I need to catalog all the work and upgrades so when you finish and sell it to me, ill have a good record of what's been done.🤪🤣🤣🤣

New springs?? What! Are you some sort of a fat a** 😜🙀 No, just new fluid.......not like modern bikes, that have ti have Zongo LS 345-FL fork oil. This one takes old school ATF.......automatic transmission fluid.
And the old fluid was remarkably clean.

Next up front brake that’s 30% larger than stock, better breaking less effort. In a few years it will be just like a KTM 450. 😁😁

I always loved those bikes. And the original Africa twin

Today it was very cold, turned the heat on in the garage, and added some cool running lights. They have high beams, low beams, and flashing lights, cool add for under $30 bucks.

My wife got a new red one the last USA year, (1990)? The front end was always weak with spindly front forks and a single wimpy disc. Early on I warped the disc racing everyone after watching the big boys at a GP at Laguna Seca, heading home down the coast back to Morro Bay area. Fun ride, wasted rotor. They are great bikes and there are a million things you can do if you want to improve performance. I have a buddy with three of them in various states of tune including a 650 twin Two Brothers Hawk race motor, and CBR 600 front end in one. Needless to say, it runs better than the others :-)

More progress, got a new front disc, it’s 16% larger than stock. So, if all the parameters are the same, except the disc, should I have 16% more braking, or will there be more? All you mathematicians get to work, and tell me what I will actually have. Oh by the way for you hunters out there, here is one of our backyard friends!

If the contact area of your brake pad doesn’t increase and the friction of the disc is the same, no increased braking potential.

If the contact location of the brake pad changes to further out on the rotor, then you’re getting more braking per revolution. Assuming that happened, I believe whatever the increase in circumference would be proportional to your improved braking.
