So 7 of us went to the Rally in Monterrey Mexico.Great event it was a first time so we didn't know what to expect,we are definitely going prepared next year to be on the high ranking.
Event is about planning your strategy, events planers give you the checkpoints and you plan the best route. 3 Categories Paved, dual sport and Dirt only, you find the checkpoint and you take a selfie at the landmark. Each checkpoint has a different value on points based on distance and terrain difficulty. You have from Saturday 6 am to Sunday at noon to complete as many checkpoints as possible. This year 1st overall place prize was $25,000 mxn (1,250 usd)

with this 2 day ADVNL Rally...

We rented 2 airbnb, unloaded gear, and the next morning @ 7am, we did the rally.

8am, starting our 1st stage, we leave Monterrey through these incredible crisp, cool, mountain passes

the scenery was simply epic

Next day, we met up here for breakfast before heading out on the 2nd day's rally. The rain throughout the night was cause for concern, but we made the best of it....

On the way to the check points, with the slick frothy stuff floating up from the roads, and the continued rain coming down , the group questioned whether today would be better spent elsewhere....

The elsewhere won. We ditched the 2nd day's event, rode back to bnb, unpacked, regrouped & spent the entire afternoon & night out on the town of San Pedro, a rather upscale suburb of Monterrey. The laughter and crazy antics....

What a night.

The next day, some had to peel off to the border, 4 of us remained another day in San Pedro, doing more laid back stuff in the 'hood... dining at the local eateries, checking out this cool RE store.

I concur. awesome vid , great tunes in the background too.
Those nose bleeding descending switchbacks at the 4:26 mark don't look nasty, but they sure are..& and slick too..

On that day the temp got to 104F by 2pm, stayed that way all the way to sundown at 7:30pm.
We k/s up at 7:30am, and it was very enjoyable all the way to noon time. By 2pm., we were conditioned to the heat, so it was just a matter of maintaining some movement to keep cool. We called it a day at 3:30pm, got some refreshments in at a nondescript home off the side of a road, and then we made it back to our airbnb by 5:30pm. HOt day, but very rewarding.
