The 2014 Roll the Bones ADV rally http://www.rollthebonesrally.com/ was a fantastic success thanks to GhostRider, his dedicated crew, and family! This year’s event really surpassed all with a record over $5,000 raised for the Wounded Warrior Project, tons of auction items, and swag!

The venue was great, tons of cabins and room to spread out and camp. Ghost offers a fantastic deal for the weekend including two breakfasts and dinner!

Me and Kosmic venture out from Austin, and this is my first longer DS ride on my new VStrom 650.

All the dirt was perfect for the VStrom, I was surprised how planted it felt and comfortable. With more knob on the front, and running lower pressures I bet the VStrom would feel pretty invincible.

In Hamilton we ran across a Wendy Davis supporter with cool hand made signs….a rare sight in rural Texas! We had to get a picture!

Very cool, let the trumpets blare!

While getting gas I spied a teeny-tiny nail in Kosmic’s tire, so he gets to test out his flat kit for the first time. Worked a treat and we were on the road in no time….better here than on the side of a dirt road.

The plug resides in the plunger, you press the brass tip through the hole. No reaming of the hole! No makee holiee biggah! You break it, you buy it!

Just a little mouse tail poking out, and ready to get back to business!

Weather was spectacular and warming up a bit…the big DS bikes very comfy and in their element. I liked that I could carry a bigger tent and sleeping mat since I was not too worried about packing light.

These back roads are very under appreciated GEMS! No big HDs that cant go around turns like in the hill country…..few cars. But still lots of deer to watch for!

On day two we enjoyed a pit stop at a small curio shop/restaurant with some really friendly and sweet country ladies running it. We really needed a mid-day boost and root beer floats with hand made Dublin Tx soft drinks hit the spot.

Note how they cook their burgers on an oversize Foreman Grill!

We were this (See Below) after making the root beer float pit stop! Sometimes all you have to do is keep your eyes open for the little gems along the way, and take a chance!

This Aussie couple are ending a massive trip, having started in South America, and buying two TW200s on the East Coast. Months and 10,000 miles later they are ready to sell the TWs and head back home. We are looking forward to a visit by them in Austin! Its not every day I get to meet world travels, and they are a real inspiration.

Check out their adventures on ADV http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=948014

UlyBrad, forever giving of himself for others! Doing sand riding clinic, selling raffle tickets, bringing hand made knit caps to sell, running the sag wagon, and so much more. At least this year he did not need to do the breakfast tacos!

Cant say enough about how hard the whole RTB crew works, just for people to show up and ride. True love of dual sport riding, and a fantastic bunch to hang out with. Already looking forward to RTB VI!

Great pics. Thanks for sharing.
I'm going to try to get the tracks and do some of those roads soon. At least before I burn thru my dirt tires on the V-Strom.

Great report.
You guys really stepped up and helped out...don't think it wasn't noticed:clap:

It sure was noticed by me...thank you for your help and great pics:chug:
What was the name of the cafe in Dublin, I will be there on Friday with my work.

Me and Kosmic really enjoyed helping out....I like to cook and clean, fancy that!

GhostRider, in Dublin there is a little gas station that sells great burgers and has those sodas....its one of 2-3 restaurants, you will see it.

We actually stopped at a little curio shop in just out of Whitney that had those sodas too.

I am trying to save that black and white bike two track. Can you'll email me that one? That will be in the fb rotation.

Bummed I couldn't make it this year. Great ride report and I love that two track. Any chance of getting a .gpx track of your route?
