I know I will miss it, but it is time to sell my Versys. I find myself riding mostly dirt roads, and mostly under 65mph, so I have bought a KLR. I will miss the handling and power of this bike, but it just doesn't fit the rides I find myself taking.
2008 Kawasaki Versys 650 (KLE650)
-15,520 miles
-$2500.00
-Seat Concepts seat foam and cover
-Brand new Shinko Raven rear tire, Pirelli Diablo front tire with lots of life left.
-Cortech Quick release tank bag mount - I have a tank bag that will mount with it, but it isn't pretty... You can get the matching Cortech tank bag or just remove the mounting ring from the bike if you don't like.
-Homemade rack and JC Whitney style removable top box. The rack is removable in about 10 minutes if you don't like it.
-Right footpeg broken at tip. Has been that way since I bought it.
$2500 is really cheap for a 2008 Versys. That's because it has a salvage title. (most Versys are going for between 4000 and 5000). The salvage title means that the bike had an insurance claim filed against it (for a wreck in this case), and the insurance company decided to total the bike instead of pay for repairs. Once the bike is fixed, whoever the insurance company sold the bike to can title it with a salvage title. There are no extra steps in registration or inspection, it just indicates that the bike has been deemed as too expensive to repair by the insurance company. It had the salvage title when I bought it – I saw pictures of the wrecked bike, and it looked like just body/mirror damage, but it doesn't take much to total a bike. I bought it about a year ago and have put 6200 miles on it in that time. Total mileage on the bike is 15,520 miles. I bought it relatively cheap because of this, and I'm selling it the same way.
The bike has a Seat Concepts seat installed, and runs and drives perfectly. Maintenance done regularly (oil every 3000 miles or so, and air filter changed about 3000 miles ago (Kawasaki manual recommends 7500 miles on the air filter).
The bike had been painted red by the previous owner but it was a so-so paint job. I also scratched up some panels, so I have painted it white and black. It looks good from 5 feet away, but you can tell it was a DIY job if you look closely. I honestly think it looks great though – see the pictures.
Whoever gets this will get a good bike for not much money – I rode it from Houston to Midland and back in November (I think), and wouldn't hesitate to do it again.
