Re: FS Panasonic Cordless Phone

How does the link with cell phone thing work?
We have a landline (actually through Vonage) because wife says we can't go just cell phones for "safety" reasons.

I am in Katy also and may be interested

You can link two cell phones to the Panasonic. When you get a cell call, the Panasonic rings as well as the cell phone. Also, you can make your cell call from the Panasonic.

So basically with 5 handsets around the house, you don't miss a cell call if you left it around the house.

You have VOIP which requires electrical power. If the grid is down long enough for the cell phones not to work, then your Vonage isn't going to be working either.

If she is that concerned, you need a POTS (plain old telephone service) line because the power is generated at the switch. That's why people can still get dial tone when the power is off at their house.

Of course I may have completely misinterpreted WHY your wife thinks cell phones aren't safe enough.

and...some cloud VoIP solutions like Skype don't allow you to "register" on the 911 system in the US of A. If you dial 911 from Skype, it goes nowhere in the US. Vonage may give you that, but as Texas T said, there's the whole power & internet connectivity issue. You may have power, but the ISP POP may not near you during a major event.

I think there are fewer and fewer land lines and Vonage or no Vonage, still this is a 'good deal' for a set of cordless.

Just realized, there is an extra handset that I had in the garage.
So it is the base with its cordless plus 5 additional handsets.
What a deal . . .

Without a doubt. When I ran a cordless POTS system in my Woodlands house I used Panasonic equipment. Good stuff, and this is a great price.
